[ When the screen zaps on, there's a man that no one's ever possibly seen on campus before. He appears to be outside hiding under a tree, laptop in his lap and trying to keep out of the smoldering summer Sun. Though with the state he's in that's visible, sharp blue hair piercing against the light skin of his shoulders and collar bone (all burnt pink), maybe he is familiar if you were paying attention at prom...

He looks pretty distressed, though, and when he speaks, it's with some tinge of anger. ]

Who just leaves those stupid balls just lying around?! Who does that?! I ran right into one. RIGHT. INTO. ONE.

[ Fingers start to tear into the thick locks of azure spikes, green eyes on the verge of ripening to red. ]

I can't find anymore! I went lookin' as soon as it happened, but they're all gone!

[ Which means he's probably been running around naked as the day he was born, but what does he care? He needs out of this body NOW.

By the end of his outburst, he's crossed between looking upset and looking annoyed. ]

Thiiiissss is not cool. AT ALL. [ He touches his shoulder. ] ow.

He swats at that hand trying to extend himself, not above pushing him away at this point.]

[ He swings his hand back before it can get hit, then the flattest expression crosses his human face.

He reaches for that pillow Shadow was just stuffing his face into, nails digging into the fabrics of it, pressing down on the cotton inside. He sits up straight, stares some more, and SWINGS IT at his head.

Hhnk-!! [Yeah, he kind of doesn't expect a face full of polyester fiber.] Why, you smug little...

[He doesn't waste any time, grabbing for the other, opposing pillow and smashing it right into his rival, a hard smack that he hopes will hurt more than it seems.

Damn this human body. So pathetically feeble...]

I have no need to tell you anything.

[ He refuses to respond verbally, taking the blow like a MAN. Yeah. He lifts his pillow up at an angle and takes another swing right for his jaw. If Shadow wanted to go back to this crap right now, then Sonic was gonna fight him for it! ]

[Oh, no, no, no. Not having that. Shadow growls at the blow to his jaw, taking it with clear contempt, and this time, he rushes his body forward, pillow jutting out to pull over the other hedgehog's face.

No, he is not about to kill him by suffocation, but he is damn well going to knock him over.]

[ HE WOULDN'T.

Well, no, Sonic trusts he wouldn't, but he still swings his arm up to keep the stupid thing away from his head as he goes pummeling into the bed. ]

Seriously? You're going to be stupid now?!

[Shadow lets go of the pillow, grasping the other hedgehog-gone-human's shoulders and pinning him down, his face full of anger and... is that a bit of shame there?]

Not nearly as stupid as you are being...!

[ Sonic's teeth expose as he snarls, trying to lift his arms to grab Shadow's but finding himself a little too unsure of how to move. He didn't feel nearly as flexible, so he grabs at what he can, which is the fabric against his waist. ]

By thinkin' my friend should talk to me when something's obviously tearin' at him?

[ He's already in a bad mood. Human body, the pressure on his skin now completely unbearable with the sunburn (and plenty of flinches of agony to show for it), and on top of it all, what Shadow didn't know, was his gloves were torn up - again. And those had been a gift. From him! ]

[In that motion, in those words, he freezes. Those hands at his hips, his dubbing of him as a `friend`...

His expression softens just slightly.

This is an entirely different ball-game and his emotions are interrupting his logical mind and demeanor far too much.

He finds himself unable to move, Sonic's touch making him flush unknowingly. Those hands on him... but... why...?

Because he cares about him, he wants him to be okay, he wants him to be bright and happy, and that's the reasoning Shadow completely lost sight of.

He slips his eyes shut and twists his head away, almost as if ashamed.]

... It was a misinterpretation and nothing more.

[His voice is soft, low, as if anyone within 10 miles could hear him and he had to remain quiet.]

`Must be crazy for you.` There are two ways to interpret that.

[... He is just going to let Sonic figure it out from there.]

[ Huh. Are there? Sonic ran through the options in his head, then found there might be more than that. He doesn't mention it, but slaps Shadow's side. ]

I getcha. Well, that too!

[ Granted... he means that sometimes he gets a little too hyper and excited - "crazy" - around Shadow, but, hey. You go for the gold, Sonic. ]

You- Wh-?!

[Shadow stares down at him, mouth ajar and eyes double their size. He doesn't realize that his face is absolutely burning up, hands trembling on Sonic's shoulders, and in that involuntarily action, he collapses at his side, face buried into the mattress beside him.

It takes him only mere seconds to roll off of him, scooting away as he lets out a shaky exhalation. Why- Why- Why why why? That didn't- but that had to be- that was clearly platonic! He. He didn't have to worry about that, worry about Sonic's intent being that of courting him. Sonic's a free spirit. He wouldn't want a mate to settle with. That, that just, just--

He shuts his eyes tight, wishing he could curl up like a hedgehog into a ball, but in this human body, he can't. He simply can't.]

... Why... me?

[ The air in Sonic's lungs puff out as Shadow falls, regained once he rolls off of him and attends to his own mental breakdown. He's not entirely aware of what's happening as a result of his careless words, but he gives him an honest answer, all the while gently touching at his throbbing shoulders. ]

You... [ Was it worth saying out loud?

More like... he couldn't admit it aloud.

Shadow was a great rival. He was the challenge Sonic was always looking for.

Unpredictable.

And endless.

It drove him mad just thinking of what was next for them. ]

Shadow bolts from the bed, getting to his feet with an expression wild and uncertain, ready to boot him out of the room so hard that he'll make it to Spagonia.

[ Sonic's face snaps over to Shadow as he abandons ship. ~~GROSS SOBBING.~~ His expression indicates a clear loop-thrown state of existence, so he sits up, turning his legs to hang off the bed and address him properly. ]

[ Sonic was one can of chili short of a perfect chili dog right now.~~Whatever the fuck that means.~~ ]

[ There went every bird within a ten-mile radius. ]

[ Sonic stands up, always head-on about everything he does, no matter HOW AWKWARD, HOLY SHIT.

He approaches Shadow, pointing a finger at him. ]

[ His nose wrinkles, head flipping away. MAN! HE SAID IT OUT LOUD.

Perhaps a minor loss of pride was worth keeping Shadow from getting completely pissed off.

[ Sonic grins at him, walking by and resting a hand on his shoulder. He gives it a small squeeze before releasing him to go to his socks and shoes again. And... ugh. His torn gloves. They weren't completely destroyed, but they needed some help. ]
