[ When the screen zaps on, there's a man that no one's ever possibly seen on campus before. He appears to be outside hiding under a tree, laptop in his lap and trying to keep out of the smoldering summer Sun. Though with the state he's in that's visible, sharp blue hair piercing against the light skin of his shoulders and collar bone (all burnt pink), maybe he is familiar if you were paying attention at prom...

He looks pretty distressed, though, and when he speaks, it's with some tinge of anger. ]

Who just leaves those stupid balls just lying around?! Who does that?! I ran right into one. RIGHT. INTO. ONE.

[ Fingers start to tear into the thick locks of azure spikes, green eyes on the verge of ripening to red. ]

I can't find anymore! I went lookin' as soon as it happened, but they're all gone!

[ Which means he's probably been running around naked as the day he was born, but what does he care? He needs out of this body NOW.

By the end of his outburst, he's crossed between looking upset and looking annoyed. ]

[ The air in Sonic's lungs puff out as Shadow falls, regained once he rolls off of him and attends to his own mental breakdown. He's not entirely aware of what's happening as a result of his careless words, but he gives him an honest answer, all the while gently touching at his throbbing shoulders. ]

Shadow was a great rival. He was the challenge Sonic was always looking for.

Shadow bolts from the bed, getting to his feet with an expression wild and uncertain, ready to boot him out of the room so hard that he'll make it to Spagonia.

[ Sonic's face snaps over to Shadow as he abandons ship. ~~GROSS SOBBING.~~ His expression indicates a clear loop-thrown state of existence, so he sits up, turning his legs to hang off the bed and address him properly. ]

[ Sonic was one can of chili short of a perfect chili dog right now.~~Whatever the fuck that means.~~ ]

[ There went every bird within a ten-mile radius. ]

[ Sonic stands up, always head-on about everything he does, no matter HOW AWKWARD, HOLY SHIT.

He approaches Shadow, pointing a finger at him. ]

[ His nose wrinkles, head flipping away. MAN! HE SAID IT OUT LOUD.

Perhaps a minor loss of pride was worth keeping Shadow from getting completely pissed off.

He snarled, turning his head away and clenching his fists, trying his damndest not to go forth and harm Sonic for something he did. This was all his slip-up, but... but how? Dammit, he shouldn't have been such a fool-!!

Why... did he assume this was all romance-centric so quickly in the first place?

Sigh.

Even though he could feel Shadow panicking over there, the tension from Sonic's half of the room has dissipated.

He takes another step closer to him, arms crossed against his chest and an eyebrow up. ]

[ This is what friends do, Shadow. He was gonna help you out.

[Yep. Exactly. Of course. Duh.

And yet Shadow froze, unable to answer at first, but then he finally speaks, his mind in some sort of suspension from the scuffle.]

... Absolutely.

[ Sonic grins at him, walking by and resting a hand on his shoulder. He gives it a small squeeze before releasing him to go to his socks and shoes again. And... ugh. His torn gloves. They weren't completely destroyed, but they needed some help. ]

[At the hand on his shoulder, Shadow actually manages to relax again, albeit slightly. His breathing slows, the heat on his cheeks from both rage and... whatever that feeling that came over him was going away.

He then notices Sonic going back to his shoes, and with one glance, he sees them.

In an instant, he digs into his pocket and pulls out some bills, all from the leftovers of the paychecks he's using to put into a motorbike. He hands it over to him, eyes peeled away.]

... Here. So you can get them repaired.

[ Sonic looks at the money, then the gloves. ]

Mm.

[ He seems distracted, unable to take it from him. ]

[... Okay, something's not right. He lowers his head, gritting his teeth together with pure irritation. Stop feeling so bad, you stupid, smug little--]

What?

[ Sonic shrugs a little.

Truth be told, this was probably the one thing that had him the most agitated in the first place. The gloves were a gift, and even with Shadow offering to help have them fixed, it didn't feel right. ]

Sorry I messed 'em up.

... Stop apologizing when you have no need to.

[He hesitates briefly, but then he places a hand down on his blue-topped head, a remarkably friendly gesture for this ice ~~queen~~ ~~king~~ queen.

`I forgive you.`

Besides, he's done worse.]

[ That.. gesture...

Was Shadow... comforting him?

He looks over at him, genuinely surprised. But then... ]

... Alright.

[ The return of the smile! ]

[There's that smile he-

You... should take advantage, while you have the chance. [He folds his arms and looks to the door. Better find some balls.]

[ Sonic nods, gathering up his items and making his way to the door. He pauses there for a moment so he can look back at Shadow.

His lips part to say something, but he stops, changing tracks in a rather obvious way (stuttering smile, spiritual ears flickering about if one knew how to sense it, and so on). ]

... Thanks!

[ Oh, fine then.

With that, he opens the door and heads on out, feeling unusually optimistic about this stupid situation. ]

[That is his only response.

Yet what Sonic didn't get to see was the smile that was on his face as he went.

... It turned out fine.

Maybe he was reacting just a little too much.]

[ AND SUDDENLY HE LEANS BACK INTO THE DOORWAY. HI SHADOW.

Sonic's got that silky red robe held up high in his hand, his bits and pieces oh dear just out of sight. ]
