This is probably going to sound ignorant to all of you, but what's prom? I figured I'd ask where somebody who knows for sure could tell me, but I feel like I'm in the dark on all this.

[He gestures with an open palm as he continues to explain what he knows.]

What I've gathered is that it's some sort of event that follows graduation, so I'm thinking it's a tournament of some kind where you pick a sparring partner. If anyone's still looking for someone, I'd be up for it. Just tell me what I need to know.

A real, real long story. But basically I was asked by a girl, she was pretty insistent so I thought, why not? Afterwords, everyone told me about this girl and she was the most miserable date, lemme tell ya. She asked a second guy too, who ain't here no more, a good friend of mine. He had an equally bad time.

[Trust him, and he went on frequent dates now to know what classified as good between the bad. All the ones with Daisy were good.]

Miserable is a good word for that. Now I know not to accept random solicitations to be somebody's date, no matter how persistent. I'll think of you.
