This is probably going to sound ignorant to all of you, but what's prom? I figured I'd ask where somebody who knows for sure could tell me, but I feel like I'm in the dark on all this.

[He gestures with an open palm as he continues to explain what he knows.]

What I've gathered is that it's some sort of event that follows graduation, so I'm thinking it's a tournament of some kind where you pick a sparring partner. If anyone's still looking for someone, I'd be up for it. Just tell me what I need to know.

So normally, it's not supposed to involve any fighting at all. Maybe the last time confused some of the students, because I'm fairly certain I heard some of them talking about it like it was a tournament or something. What exactly happened?

This school does not operate like any normal one! I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a tournament involved... However, because of the nature of the students, it's equally likely that those who were involved in the fighting last year were just morons!

All right, the only way to be certain is to ask those who have been around long enough to have been to more than one!

Unfortunately, I can't clearly recall all of the exact details... Which is completely useless of me in this situation! But what I do remember is...

Trying to break up a fight and getting punched in the face for it.

Getting punched in the face for trying to make peace between two parties? It happens. I'm glad nothing worse happened. It could have, I'm sure.

[This is still a fighting school, after all. He must be unable to remember much because he blacked out, Ike figures. HA HA HA...]

Do you think something like this would happen again at prom? Maybe we need more people to look out for others like you in case somebody else gets hurt this year.

I don't need looking out for!! No! The important thing is figuring out if the Smash Academy tradition is supposed to involve a fight or not, that's all! Either way, it's highly likely something will happen!

If it's as likely as you say, then we should be prepared to take care of it. Not everyone here is cut out to be a fighter. If you don't need looking out for, then I hope you'll look out for those who do need it.

Of course! Keeping others out of harm's way is my first priority in all this!

It isn't just the fights. We need to ensure nobody drinks the punch, either!

There was an incredible amount of alcohol in it last year! On school grounds, being served to minors!

That's right! There is a sickeningly sweet drink called punch, despite the connotations of the word... Maybe it was chosen because of the violent nature of a prom here after all?

[Somebody doesn't know the drinking age law. He also assumes that punch is supposed to have alcohol in it.]

If you don't want to drink alcohol, why drink the punch if you know what's in it?

There are so many problems! To start with, it wasn't supposed to have any alcohol in it. Somebody snuck it in! Furthermore, not only is alcohol prohibited on school grounds - [NOT THAT ANYONE CARES] - but most of the students are under the legal drinking age!

This must be some kind of juvenile prank. So the best thing to do is to make sure nobody dumps a bottle of alcohol in there? If this is such a problem, then why doesn't the school...

[Ike stops right there. He knows the answer. Smash Academy is generally awful at enforcing its rules and preventing chaos.]

Never mind. At least I know better than to try punch now.
