It seems as though I have returned at a fitting time.

Something so precarious.

No matter then. I will return to work posthaste.

It seems I must reintroduce myself. Very well, my name is Cyrus. I have been the Ethics teacher here, and I trust I remain in that position. I was called away urgently for many months and will not speak more on it.

I demand those in my class pay attention and do the work that is assigned to them. This ought not be an extraordinary thing; in fact it ought to be expected. Yet as with much, this has fallen by the wayside.

For you to reconsider the world and what you know of it--that is my aim. What surrounds us and fills our lives often passes us by for the commonality of it. For us to act ethically is for us to be thoughtful of those things around us and their impact on the greater whole of existance.

I urge critical thinking, and for those in my class to be able to support your beliefs. Do not be surprised if you are unable to do so immediately. You have not spared thought for such things before, and as such you may find it difficult.

Yet it is ultimately rewarding, for therein lies justice itself.

And justice is something that must be upheld. I am certain that you have seen why.

[Really. Of all the things to happen in the academy, which weren't going well, Cyrus' return is like icing on... a really bad cake. But no matter how pretty it's decorated, a bad cake is still going to be a bad cake.

Voile is instantly reminded of a few different things in seeing his entry. Some slightly good. Some not so good. But the ultimate conclusion is that she feels she isn't ready to see him again - and may not ever be.

So her first plan of action is to simply hide out in her room. And not go to classes for about a week or so while she puts herself together. Provided she chooses to leave the dormitory again.]

I'm glad to see someone actually in this position. Considering recent events, the students need all the tools they can get to navigate through it safely.

A worthy subject, that of the very nature of the universe. Therin lies everything, the matter of creation. If I may, what draws you to it?

Additionally, I am interested to know what you have done in this situation. You are in a position of authority, after all.

I always had an impulse to take things apart to see how they worked. This got me into considerable trouble when I was younger; now I get paid to do it.

I haven't made any restrictions on the students, if that's what you're fishing for. [Faculty is another story.] I'm likely the last person that should weigh in on the topic of non-human rights, so I've set myself to keeping the kids safe no matter what their stripes are. This is more than a full-time job in itself, considering some of the crazy bastards that work here.

I've also been made aware that a large number of us have been basically stranded here, with no way back. I have more than a passing familiarity with trans-dimensional portal technology, so I've turned my focus to that.
