[Caim's very tempted not to say anything, because this is a very crucial moment. Caim talks with Ai often enough. He... enjoys her company. He protects her, would happily kill for her. (He'd happily kill for his own reasons, too.) In short, Ai is very important to him, however...

It's not something he can admit. Not to Raikov. Not to Ai. Not to even himself, most likely. For confessing to it, acknowledging it, opens him to vulnerability. Not that anyone here could stand a chance against him. Not even Byrne.]

Ai should just do whatever it is she wants to do. It's unnecessary to restrain her when life is so short.

'Protection' and 'control' are two entirely different things.

[Caim may be one hell of a murdering bastard, but he's intelligent. It's that royal background of his, most certainly. The idea that anyone would ever imply protection and control being so closely interwoven unnerves him. It sounds like something Inuart would say. It sounds like what Inuart thought.]
