I should like to say that I, personally, am quite relieved to have not fallen in love with a cow this year. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with a tender steak dinner. Simply that a line ought to be drawn between loving animals and... well.

[Soryk pauses.]

On a related subject, after a good deal of thought, I have decided it is far past the time in which I should like some information on the creatures we refer to as 'Pokémon.' Their properties, naturally, and other such traits.

[Someone's poisoning extravaganza didn't go quite the way he planned.] For instance, what allows a Pokémon to die and yet, miraculously return from the dead? Eating habits. Life cycles. And so on.

I always thought they were merely animals with a higher intelligence than that of a house pet, yet it seems there is something more to them. If you are a Pokémon, share with me some about yourself. If you have a Pokémon, tell me about your companion. I would very much appreciate it.

I think that qualifies for all humans everywhere. In fact, no human I have ever personally met in my homeland was ever kind.

[Selfish disgusting round eared things. But that's probably Soryk's history leaving a bitter impression on him. No run-ins he's ever had with them aside from those in the academy were ever remotely good. And that's likely due to the factions at an ever consistent war with one another.

No one likes the Alliance anyway.

I suppose they would be, aye. I must admit that they do not have enough blade for me. I have a fondness for sharp things.

It sounds as though the Humans in your world and those in mine are cut from the same cloth.

[It was a long time before he'd extend even the tiniest amount of trust or goodwill towards any Human. Felicia had taught him to appreciate them somewhat back when he was at Capcom High. But still.]

I prefer a weapon with a blunt edge. If I want sharp, I've plenty of teeth and claws.

[He can't really argue it. Soryk has a long-standing dislike for humans, though he's never expressed that in the academy. Well, perhaps when he first arrived. Since most people tend to avoid him, he's never had to worry about socialising with them.

Right. I suppose an animal would have access to such things. [But he's not an animal and would never care to be. He likes keeping his hands clean.] That must be immensely practical. If not here, then certainly wherever it was you came from.

Oh, wolfish abilities are practical everywhere. Here, there, anywhere I've been. One does one's best with the tools one is given, after all.

I agree with that. I knew quite a few men who were more than a little... wolfish, as you so put it. Women, also. And some people rather like wolfish people.

Hm. A bit of both, actually. In fact, full fur coats with human skins on occasion—both carrying a rather enchanting predatorial composure about themselves.
