Are any of you familiar with the legend of the Dragon's Gate? They say that there exists a huge waterfall running off a great mountain. Fish swim upstream against the harsh current, but most tire out and are swept away. But those who have the courage to persist and make it to the top of the waterfall are transformed into a beautiful, powerful dragon.
It's a good lesson, isn't it?
That's right! Even though this school has countless obstacles and hurdles and dangers looming quite literally right over our heads, if we give up, we too will be pushed back and will make no progress! We must press on through the unforgiving current, and when we make it, we will come out stronger than ever! All right! Let's do our best to reach the top!!
[What brought this up? Is someone trying to keep himself from going nuts at the idea of one last year here... probably.]
On another note... There are many Pokemon and trainers here, so if anybody has any advice on raising a Magikarp, I'm all ears!
[Ah. Ah. That's it.
ACTION TIMES: Kiyotaka can be found bonding with an ugly fish he lets swim in a kiddie pool out in the stadium some days. Most of the time he can be found studying. Livin' on the edge. Although whatever he's doing, he seems to be favouring his left arm a little.]

[mega douchegon used outrage]
Since you ain't willin' to do the work, I guess somebody's got to: if I were you, I'd get two Pokemon. You can raise the Magikarp by proxy with an Experience All or something while the other one does the fightin'. S'really the only option you got, unless you plan on usin' that thing as a blunt weapon.
[SUPER EFFECTIVE]
Not willing to do the work. That accusation strikes him on a deeply personal level.]
Am I supposed to put any stock into your advice? First you tell me to kill it, and then you tell me to have it leech off another Pokemon's efforts? Absolutely not! I'll find my own way!

Yes, you are. I'm the Pokemon Studies teacher. I'm a Pokemon. I know trainers. And I'm pretty sure I already know exactly what kinda trainer you are.
Lemme ask you this, then: do you think that fish of yours wants to get hurled into battles it ain't ready for? You think it's lookin' forward to getting roughed up and not bein' able to do jack shit about it? Or maybe you don't give a shit, as long as you get to prove some kinda point to everyone.

[But it is mostly about that, you butthurt baby.]
If I thought simply throwing it into battle was the best way to do this, I would have done that from the start! I fail to see how researching and looking for the best way before doing anything rash like that is "not wanting to make an effort."
Not only that... A Pokemon is supposed to be a lifelong companion, isn't it? A friend and a partner! I should believe in mine's abilities instead of encouraging it to coast on some other Pokemon's hard work. If that means I need to look for unorthodox methods and avoid battling entirely, so be it!

I'm tellin' you now that Pokemon don't get stronger through anything but experience. I guess if you've got dollar bills shootin' out your ass you could cram Rare Candies down their throats, but they call 'em rare for a reason. These ain't just things you can pick up at the local Pokemart. They won't do diddly-squat for actual battle competency, neither.
There's also Super Trainin', I guess. It's some new method invented by one of Kalos' gym leaders. Won't make your fish evolve or learn any actual attacks, but it can at least buff up the areas you wanna focus on without actual battles.
[Saying nothing about daycares, though. Never ever ever recommending daycares.]

I see... A regimen that can combine this Super Training and double battles could potentially work out, don't you think? But as long as I am a student, I may not have the time to raise two Pokemon. Especially if a Magikarp needs more work.
[On top of homework and studies and clubs and figuring out this whole crazy new "social life" thing and kind of raising a Turret too. Jeez, kid.]
Whatever we end up doing, the end result isn't about battling or badges or anything like that! As long as it's the best Pokemon it can be, no matter what that may mean for it, that's what matters! If I can improve myself along with it, even better! That's the kind of trainer I want to be.
