Are any of you familiar with the legend of the Dragon's Gate? They say that there exists a huge waterfall running off a great mountain. Fish swim upstream against the harsh current, but most tire out and are swept away. But those who have the courage to persist and make it to the top of the waterfall are transformed into a beautiful, powerful dragon.
It's a good lesson, isn't it?
That's right! Even though this school has countless obstacles and hurdles and dangers looming quite literally right over our heads, if we give up, we too will be pushed back and will make no progress! We must press on through the unforgiving current, and when we make it, we will come out stronger than ever! All right! Let's do our best to reach the top!!
[What brought this up? Is someone trying to keep himself from going nuts at the idea of one last year here... probably.]
On another note... There are many Pokemon and trainers here, so if anybody has any advice on raising a Magikarp, I'm all ears!
[Ah. Ah. That's it.
ACTION TIMES: Kiyotaka can be found bonding with an ugly fish he lets swim in a kiddie pool out in the stadium some days. Most of the time he can be found studying. Livin' on the edge. Although whatever he's doing, he seems to be favouring his left arm a little.]

But right now, I'm school security.
[That was the simple version of the answer, but it was as much as he needed to know.
But the brief glimpse that Ishimaru had seen of his capabilities, it was clear that it must've been some kind of understatement. He wasn't simply any mass produced military robot. Whoever had created him intended Zero to be a one man army.
As far as design specs go, it was quite a step above an Aperture turret in terms of murderous potential.]

Zero may not have been against the students and faculty here, but he could strike down anybody who rose against the school, even if they weren't mindless shadow drones. Given the school's wonderful track record with PR in the city as long as Kiyotaka had been around, that possibility was all too likely.
It was a big What If for now, though. There was not a whole lot he could do about it right now.
...Except learn to protect.]
I see. Then... There would be no one better to teach me.
[He couldn't bring himself to say to do the same.]

Why this student would choose him out of anyone was... troubling, as well. Because as adept as Zero was at destruction, it wasn't a burden he wished on anyone unprepared to take it on. Especially not a civilian. What was Ishimaru expecting out of him?]
Why's that?

[To be honest, he wasn't sure how many swordsmen were even around. There was the fencing class, but fencing was something completely different from what he was after. He'd still participate anyway, of course.]
So if I am going to learn how to use one properly, it should be from you.
[Definitely not to learn Zero's moves in case of the Worst Case Scenario or anything.]

[But if nothing else, Ishimaru sounded determined. He had that going for him, at least.
If this was how fate was supposed to play out, then maybe it wouldn't hurt to give it a try - even if it did feel like it was doomed to some kind of failure. It was probably only the lingering sense of responsibility he felt towards Ishimaru's wellbeing that led Zero to entertain the idea at all.
With a sigh, the reploid relented.]
...Let your arm heal first. Then we can talk about training.

[This arm really was going to be nothing but a nuisance until it was fully functional again. Kiyotaka was pretty sure it was going to scar, but that would be fine. It would be a reminder of what he needed to dedicate himself to. High School was dangerous, and Smash Academy worst of all, so there was nothing worthier he could spend his time learning to do.
He would become a competent swordsman, and his Magikarp would become a competent Gyarados, and he would have a fighting chance against whatever the future held.
That bit of hope and determination was part of what was going to help him get through this year.]
As soon as it's healed, I'll let you know! Don't worry about needing to go easy on me or anything like that!
[It was weird. For all his apprehension about the thought of actually facing an opponent, there was something that felt... natural about the idea of blade itself.
Like he'd been wielding one for years.]
no subject
...Right.
[Zero acknowledged Ishimaru's drive with another subtle nod, before turning on his heel and walking away. With all that settled, it was high time that he returned to his patrols.
For now, he was going to put this teaching thing from his mind. He'd just have to deal with it when the day came.]
