[First comes a video. It's Sonny Moe. You can see that he's been eating pies. There's a couple of pie tins sitting there with a few crumbs in them. Also, he may have a few stray crumbs in his stubble.]

I really love October! Can you believe that some places have sale priced pumpkin pies already!? I bought a whole bunch if anyone wants one! You might want to speak up quickly, though - I can't guarantee they will last very long!

So, anyway, Halloween is this month too. I know it's kind of early to be thinking about it, but does anyone already know what they're going to dress up as? I'm not sure, yet. Maybe a Ninja Squirtle guy.

1) Now that his hand is mostly healed, Sonny can be found sitting around outside near whatever piles of leaves are the biggest, practicing his Ukulele skills. Feel free to interrupt him, listen in, or jam with him if you have an instrument handy!

2) Autumn is the start of Baking Season. Sonny can be found in the student kitchens most days making things with cinnamon and nutmeg and pumpkin spice and chocolate and ham. Want a bite?

3) Other than that he's being a good guy and going to all his classes and taking orders from his awesome boss Bowser and doing all those other Sonny Moe things. So, wandering the halls, wandering between classes, wandering around the grounds, in the cafeteria, in the weight room, in the everyplace.]

It does sound different! I think the thing about Ukuleles that I like most is that they only really seem to be able to make happy noises. I don't know if you could ever play a sad song on a Ukulele!

[He thought about it for a moment, trying to decide what song to play. Then...]

I know what I could play! I'm still just learning this one, so, I might mess it up a little! Sorry in advance, if I do!

[And so he started to play Island in the Sun.]

[ The fascination came with the idea that this instrument could not be sad. She felt sadness all the time, and it made her wonder what made it so unique that sadness would never be involved!

She bobs her head side to side to the music, catching onto the tune and singing along wordlessly. LaLaLas carried a little awkwardly, but she'd get it!

Vivian pauses to comment. ]

I wonder if I can be happy like Mr. Ukelele!

Sure! Why not?

[He ended the song and set the instrument aside, digging in his pocket for a moment to bring out some candy, which he offered to her.]

Being happy is really easy! Simple things can make you happy. Today is a sunny day but still cool and the breeze smells like autumn. That makes me happy! I have some sweets, which makes me happy, and I get to share them with a friend which makes me happy too!

[....he was not a complicated man.]

[ She accepts the candy with some taps of excited toes. Unwrapping it to get to the sweet, she listens at the same time, smiling when she is successful in popping the candy into her mouth without the foil going with it.

Vivian looks at him rather thoughtfully, thinking of everything that makes her happy. Unfortunate circumstances never interfere when she's on this track, so despite all that is consistently bad in her life, there's nothing keeping her from acknowledging how much better the good is for her. ]

I'm happy you're happy!

[ she was simple too tbh ]

The Doctor and Taka make me happy! My friends are like, uhm... happy commands. [ We..ll...okay.

She walks up to Sonny and plops a hug against his belly. ]

You, too, Sonny~!

Hee! I'm glad I make you happy, Vivian! That's the best!

[He hugged her back, of course. Hey, he wasn't ever going to turn down a free hug!]

You're right! Friends always make me happy. That's why I try to be friendly with everyone. Even people who aren't really friendly back.

[He broke the hug and picked up his Ukulele again.]

Hey! Do you want to try?

Really...?

[ She looks almost afraid to touch something that precious to him. She's, uh... kind of ripped things and broken stuff before. Whoops.

But she knows sharing and generosity is so important. Friendship ponies did go over that, after all!

She carefully reaches forward to accept his offer, smiling enough that her cheeks almost start to hurt. ]

[He placed the item in her hands carefully and pointed to the neck.]

You put your fingers on different strings here to make the chords you want to play! Depending on which strings you hold down and where you hold them, the sound changes! You make the sound by strumming the strings on this part!

[He showed her where to strum the strings and held his hand in the right position so she could see how to do it.]

[ She holds steady as she accepts the ukelele, bringing it close as Sonny had it. She follows his guidance, presses on a few strings and - BRRBRBRBR...

WELL... THE SOUND WAS... something. Happy, sure. Good? Not so much. ]

Hehe... [ She stops and looks at him. ] It's nice.

Keep trying! It's fun, right? You could sing a song while you strum the strings, if you want to.

[Hey, he'd played a song for her. He was more than happy to listen to her play too. Even if she didn't know how, that was OK. It was more the act of a friend playing and getting to listen to it that he liked.]

[ As she plucks her fingers along the strings, she hums along as the sound trails off. She looks at Sonny expectantly, because yo you gotta sing too ]

[He blinked at her a couple of times before getting what she wanted.]

Ohhhhh! OK! Uhhh... what song should I sing? You could play along with my voice!

Okay! [ Vivian was actually pretty good with music. If not shooting, then music. But that was about it for her skill set.

She moved in closer so she could watch him, like she would find the sheet music painted on his teeth.

She ran her digits across the strings to give him a cue. ]

OK! Let me see...

[He thought for a moment, trying to think of a song that was easy to play along with.]

On that ranch he had a Mareep!

With a Ma-Ma here and a Reep-Reeep there...

[Etc etc etc!]

[ OKAY HERE SHE GOES. With each note she tried to find the sound and play along, and considering the notes weren't too different with each verse, she was picking it up rather quickly. Hooray! ]

[ Vivian finished the strumming and laughed. She held his ukulele back to him. ]
