Dance ♌ 01 / [Video]

[There's nothing quite like being pushed along and having your shrieks be ignored.

'This will be your room,' they said.
'Classes aren't in session right now, but they will be in a few months,' they said.
'Take the time to enjoy the summer and get to know everyone first, they said.

But no one's explained what exactly is going on, where Lord Chrom is, or the other Shepherds. In fact, no one's really explained much of anything that truly makes sense.

She stares at her computer and the video feed, mostly clueless. She doesn't really know how to use anything she's looking at. Finally seating herself, she's still for many moments before her head suddenly turns and there's the audible sound of her chair rapidly scooting across the floor. A mess of limbs flies up and she introduces herself by way of a screech.]

EEK!
Stay back! I'll—I—I have a sword and I know how to use it!

[It could be a bug. A pikmin. It could be nothing at all. The world may never know.]

[Henry LAUGHS. LAUGHS. This is the BEST post for so many reasons, and he is elated. Genuinely elated.

An Olivia who knew him might have been proud of that genuine display, actually. It was totally unintended.]

Olivia! You can't hit anybody with a sword through the screen, silly~!

[He waves at her.]

[For the longest time--which is really just a few moments--Olivia simply stares over the edge of her chair which she's chosen to hide behind at him. Who is this boy...?]

...Uhm. I'm sorry. Who are you?

[In such a vulnerable moment, Henry's face faltered dramatically. But he put on his smile again in almost an instant. The smile that he tries for.]

Ahaha, oops. Maybe it's pretty dark, huh~... It's me, Henry.

[Henry tried to adjust the computer so that the light was hitting his face better, like that was the problem. But he was just fine before. He pressed an index finger against his face.]

Seeeee? See?

[Mmmmmmnope. Still doesn't ring a bell. She leans over and in to get a better look and after reconsidering, Olivia frowns prominently.]

Henry? Did you see one of my performances in Ferox? I'm sure I'd remember you if I knew who you were.

[Seriously. How many platinum-haired boys with squinty eyes exist?]

[He laughs again. Idly, as he thinks. It's an airy, hollow laugh - typical of him. How could she forget him? What happened? Would this be an act? No, he didn't think so... The way she said his name was too experimental. It was unnerving.]

...You must be cursed. Yes, that's right! An amnesia curse. I can dispel it for you right away! Just tell me where you are and I'll do away with it like a bad dream~!

[He acts like he's sure of his explanation, but he doesn't seem to believe in it.]

[Usually if someone wants to know where she is and she doesn't know them, they're probably not good people. Now would be a really good time for Chrom or Basilio to step in and back her up.

At least she has a sword. Not that she's got the confidence to start swinging it around.]

If I'm cursed, it's because I'm here. Can you just tell me how to get back to Plegia?

[That's probably a 'no.']

[Curious. He didn't recall any of the Shepherds wanting to go to Plegia after the battle with Grima.]

Why do you wanna go to Plegia, anyway? You're not from Plegia. Heck, I didn't think any of the Shepherds would want to set foot in Plegia ever again.

We had something we needed to take care of. Who are you, really? No lying! I'll be able to tell if you're lying!

[She will not, in fact, know.]

[He points at himself once again, like it would suddenly clear everything up.]

I told you, I'm Henry. You guys met me...

[Something we needed to take care of in Plegia. Well, it wouldn't be the first time time travel was involved. Was it possible that she hadn't, in fact, met him at all? That she was from his past? Henry, being strange as he is, doesn't have too much of a hard time getting himself to accept this possibility. He lowers his hand.]

Ahhhh~ What's the use. I don't think you have ever met me. But I've met you! Still, I have an idea: I'll pretend I don't know you and we can start over!

[He can't actually pretend that, but for the sake of his idea, he would say it.]

Sooo, mystery lady, I'm Henry! Nice to meetcha. I'm a dark mage from Plegia.

[Like calling himself a native of Plegia would not be alarming.]

[From the beginning he's made her nervous. His overwhelming enthusiasm. His seemingly carefree nature. The concept that he knows her without her knowing him. The idea that he's just going to quickly put that aside and try to start over.

The fact that he's from Plegia.

And just like that, she's behind her chair again.]

You're from Plegia?? And you know who the Shepherds are?

[It isn't very hard to play Connect the Dots.]

You did something to--ah--Lord Chrom and the others, didn't you? You're the reason we're separated!

Nope. I never did anything to Chrom. I threatened him a couple times behind his back, but never anything serious like that~.

[Just, you know. "How about I cast a death curse on Chrom~?" That kind of thing. No big deal.]

And the Shepherds were anything but separated when I joined. You were all so tight-knit that I felt like I was gonna suffocate~ The reason you're separated from the group is beyond me.

[He points a finger.] But maybe you'll let me help you~ You'll just have to stop hiding from me.

[He threatened him behind his back? Just a first conversation tells Olivia that this Henry guy is bad news. He's a Plegian mage. He's evidently capable of thinking about going against Lord Chrom. Maybe he wasn't responsible for her being here, but...

Just how did he end up knowing her anyway?]

You say you want to help, but... You don't seem very trustworthy. You're probably really reliable to yourself.

[She creeps out from behind her chair.]

Just h-how would you help me anyway?

Ahaha, we're getting somewhere~!

[He points his finger at the feed this time, like he's pointing directly at her.]

If I were to help you, hmm... Being a Plegian myself, maybe my Plegia senses will help you get home and stuff. Not that it works like that, hee hee~ But something like that. That's where you wanna be, right? Plegia?

Well...

[She frowns. This is really confusing, honestly. She's here for a reason, right?]

I'd... want to go back to help Lord Chrom, but it's not as if he'd really miss me that much, right? He has all of the Shepherds to help him. There's not much else I could do, I think. I was only supposed to get them into Plegia, and I did.

Ehhh? What's this? You're saying you don't wanna go back after all?

[He could tell that this was Olivia finding herself useless. Or that's what he was getting out of it.

What he was understanding from this more and more, however, was the circumstances of her timing. These events she keeps talking about must have happened before he was affiliated with the Shepherds. If she wasn't just cursed, then this was an Olivia from the past.

(And it was weird to meet somebody you cared about before they knew you. He couldn't get over that.)]

Suit yourself~ I'm not complaining. That means I get to meet you all over again. It's only somewhat of a bother, but maybe you'll try giving me some more of those lessons again~! That would be worth it on its own~

It's not that I don't want to go back.

[It's only that even if she did, maybe Chrom would realise she wasn't bringing that much to the Shepherds. It's hard to say it, though, especially when she thinks it so often. Consequently, she doesn't repeat herself.

What he says puzzles her. Almost everything he's said up to this point is puzzling. She's still not even sure she should be trusting him. In fact, she probably shouldn't be, so she makes a note to keep him at arm's length.]

When you say lessons, what do you mean? How do you know me, anyway?

I don't think it's happened to you yet. You guys... You haven't faced off with Gangrel yet, have you~? If that's the case, then you haven't met me yet.

[He didn't mean for it to sound foreboding and ominous, but it sure does sound that way. Like he's claiming the spot of villain-to-be.]

So? Did I get it right? I met with you guys when you were swarmed by countless Risen, and do I mean countless! I couldn't pass up the opportunity, so Chrom let me join and the rest is history. Or, future. For you, ahaha.

No... We were just coming into Gangrel's territory. It was supposed to be what we hoped would be our last fight against him. We had the advantage I think. Lord Chrom sounded confident.

[Her head tips and she eventually makes her way back into her chair. Leaning over, she uses an arm to support her chin as she eyes him.]

You rescued us, Henry? [A Plegian mage rescuing them.]

I wouldn't put it like thaaaat... I bet you guys woulda done just fine on your own. Maybe with a bit more casualties, but who knows? I just wanted some of the action, is all!

Still, I think I know why you don't know me now. What a shame, hahaha~.

[He just wanted some of the action. She doesn't know if she should feel horrified or what. But he sounds like he's being earnest and honest. Like he believes he has nothing to hide, and there's something about that, that Olivia genuinely likes.]

I don't understand. Well, I mean, I do, I guess. You met me after Gangrel's death. Except we haven't killed Gangrel yet.

I don't know how it's possible, but it seems like... there's a difference in time between us. It sounds like it. I just don't understand how.

I agree! At first, I was sure you'd recognize me, you know. But then you didn't, so I knew something had to be up. I'm glad we're on the same page.

[He pauses. They really aren't on the same page regarding their history, but at least they've reached a similar conclusion.]

[Right. Because she didn't recognise him. And for as uncomfortable as she was before, she feels a little more at ease with the idea that he knows her.

Sort of. At least she's not completely alone.]

Uhm. If you don't mind my asking, why are you here anyway? Wouldn't you rather be back home, Henry?

[Henry shakes his head no.]

From my perspective, everything back home is resolved. War's over, happy endings, blah blah. And I can't go back to Plegia, for sure. Imagine that one, hee hee! That's not an option if I wanna keep my body in-tact. And staying in Ylisse isn't much of an option, either~

[It probably is an option. But Henry felt restless there. He felt as though he wasn't a good fit for that peaceful country.]

So I decided to travel and stuff. Then I wound up here!

You defected from Plegia to help the Shepherds. [Maybe he felt the same as Mustafa and some of the other soldiers under Gangrel's leadership.] Why can't you go back to Ylisse? Lord Chrom would welcome you, wouldn't he?

Oh, sure. I just didn't find any reason to stay. Aha, it was nice to be with you guys while it lasted, but I think I'd just be bothersome to have around~.

And besides, I like war, so I came here, where I heard there was a lot of fighting~
