[004E - Audio/Video] - Report #3
[Sitting prim and proper, Eirika has one arm upon her desk. Her room looks... surprisingly barren. Well, half of it anyway. The half that isn't hers.]
Things have grown quiet. The space may be greater for me and something akin to home, yet I feel no sense of joy from it.
[In short, she misses Lyra.
Glancing aside momentarily, her posture straightens again.]
I require some information for my personal station.
I would like to know some more about the authoritative position differences between this academy and the town. I am also quite curious as to whether they should be treated as two separate provinces, or if one authority has a hierarchy above the other.
Where I come from, it is an age of monarchies. I would imagine coming to learn about the differences here would provide to me a better understanding of how to effectively lead my own people.
[Boopa boop. I am a filter.]
Madame Flurrie.
If you wouldn't be adverse to it, I would appreciate some moments of your time.
At your convenience, naturally.
[Boopa boop. Guess the filter's done.]

I do not feel as if one has power over the other.

[Eirika did pause afterward. She had never been particularly ignorant of the man. And she knew well enough of whatever it was that was going on with her.]
Connor, are you all right?
Video
[Well he can talk about one thing now.]
...Does it concern you who governs who?
Video
A little, yes. Look at the circumstance. You can't tell me that you don't want to know. What exactly do you think I'm trying to do?
Video
Your stance on hierarchy and monarchy...Not that I doubt your ability to govern and govern well. You care a lot about your people. These...are very good qualities.
But if a place is governed by its people, does it matter to you if there is a hierarchy and a monarchy or not?
[In other words, he's curious to hear your views on democracy.]
Video
[But she understands what he's getting at. There's a clear hesitance, however. She hasn't forgotten what he's said before and Connor's made it quite obvious that he's not really fond of kings and queens.
Makes her wonder how he can feel anything for her at all. She's precisely what he's not interested in. At least in terms of political guidance.]
Regardless if people are to govern themselves, then it would only be logical that some appointed above them to hear their thoughts and appropriately convey what would be the best for the majority. Subjective, yes, but it isn't possible to please everyone.
Without a form of guidance, I could not believe people to be so strong or disciplined to lead themselves freely.
[She pauses.]
Yet I am a princess - to be a queen - from a monarch. I can only speak with the knowledge of what I was groomed to do.
Video
There may have been a time which Connor could refute that and just say she was wrong.
But, for one? She wasn't really turning down the people, she just believed in someone to express their voice. Which...admittedly was not something Connor could completely turn down. The people after all, chose Washington. And in the end of everything, Connor wasn't willing to let Washington retire after the war. He should lead during war and peace.
Wasn't that what Eirika basically said then?
Lead, not oppress. The road to freedom and peace, and not a peace from controlling how they see fit...That was what Connor wanted. He seemed to be relatively pleased with what he heard, and gave a somewhat approving bow of the head.]
You seem to realize with such a power comes with responsibility. That your people have a voice that should be listened to. They have power, and they may require guidance...but not from one who feeds on the power given to them...

[ He thins his eyes suddenly, a scowl present on his muzzle. ]
... That is what they want you to believe, but I think the Headmasters hold more authority than they'd like to divulge.
[ video ]
That would be logical from that standpoint. The town likely existed before these grounds. Naturally by jurisdiction, the academy would be more at the whims of the mayor.
[At least that's how it'd work in Magvel as far as she knows. As Shadow continues, however, she finds herself leaning forward. Eventually, her chin finds a resting point in the palm of her right hand.]
You've been here for a while, Shadow. When did you come to this conclusion and what brought you there?
[ video ]
[ Dry wit aside, he taps his fingers along the edge of his desk, pondering how to word this. ]
... Master Hand brought many of us here. He controls the rifts through worlds to some degree, if not in full. The amount of power held by the mayor is lessor, if not kept well-hidden, so I have my suspicions.
[ He wouldn't tell just anyone this, but Eirika seems to be an elegant, fine, and curious presence. For a princess of her stature, he isn't quite as adverse, but he's still holding a lot of his reasoning back. ]
[ video ]
Unerringly valid, that.
[It really gives her a lot to think about.]
Is it a ruse, then? For surely if Master Hand was so immensely powerful, than things like our current martial law would not be in effect. Unless...
[Master Hand is more a tyrannical sort...]
What do we know of him or the mayor, really? Only their titles and names, perhaps? Are they enigmas left unsolved?
[ video ]
[ His response is filled to the brim with a sour tone. He's, um... clearly not very happy with the authority figures here. ]
I've intended to get to the bottom of it... but it proves more difficult than expected when they have such control over the world. They can hide anything and everything no matter what.
[ Is that a growl? It is. ]
Tch... Irritating...
[ video ]
[She nods again, a bit slower this time. She's not sure what to think. Just when she's believed things couldn't get worse.]
The upside is that you aren't alone. I'm not sure what all I can do, but I'll do whatever I can. I'm not fine with standing aside and doing nothing.
[In short. It sounds like it's time to start causing a stir.]

When you have time... I was hoping perhaps I could meet with you. Diplomatically, my lady. I feel you may be able to assist me with something I feel would be... beneficial for the masses.

[Tea is just the perfect invitation she can get, honestly. It's like the way things work at home. Diplomacy over tea.
Her feed shuts off and in a few minutes, Eirika's at Flurrie's door, knocking twice, and preening herself from head to toe. Well, from hair to skirt, to be more precise.]

Your homeland?
[Her eyebrows raise curiously.]
It sounds... quaint.

[She pauses for many moments afterward and taps the tip of her nose.]
Well, I mean. You could say my homeland is... many years behind advancements here.
[Eirika does mean many.]
