Force and Action
[He'd seen the news broadcast, and absolutely no part of it boded well. Smash Academy was officially a target to anyone with strong pro-human sentiments. He wasn't as quick to put on his military cap as Cyrus, but he could read the writing on the wall.]

A notice to students; over the next few days, if anyone from Final Destination City tries to talk to you about the incident or makes any sort of threat towards you or your friends, get in touch with a member of the faculty as soon as you can. It doesn't matter who; if nothing else you can reply to this message, or visit someone's office hours. Do not try to solve any problems by yourself. Remember that we're here to help you and keep your safe.
I know I'm part of a long line of people you're explaining to today, but... what the hell actually happened out there?
[To Shadow and Ron]
Do you guys need an extra man on security for a while? [The way he says that implies a YET at the end.]
[Text, to Chell]
I heard on the news that they're associating Aperture with the incident. Are you all right?

...
[His suspicions were confirmed. Suddenly, it looked like Connor had an even greater peak of interest.]
So it is true. It sounds like the same man. I knew Franklin.

[Empirically, he knows it's possible for a few of these people to be from a world in an era previous to his. But proof like this was so damned unlikely that he's going to have to come to terms with it now.]
You knew him?

If we are talking of the same man, he had signed partaken in a declaration in Philadelphia. I was there with Samuel Adams...and John Hancock I believe his name was; he was also there.

[He won't go into it any more than that because, to be honest, he isn't sure if Connor's future is exactly like Gordon's past.]

[Wow...he wondered what else was spared after so long. The rich history...of him not being in it maybe. Probably for the best on that though. Connor's people were far looked down on and Connor worked mostly in secret anyway. He would actually be a little worried.]
It was a piece of paper and they preserved it for this long?

[This explained why he didn't ken to much in terms of science. They had basic newtonian stuff and maybe some optics to go on.]

[Kinda warmed his heart, actually.]
It is good to hear the people of today strive still keep to that notion of the declaration.
[Probably the best thing he heard about the present...future. By far. Thoughts on some people aside, this is what he kinda wanted to see.]
It was the year 1783, actually.

[He didn't consider himself particularly patriotic, but suddenly jumping ahead twenty years and finding himself in a world caught in the mutated claws of the Combine made him keenly aware of what those freedoms actually meant. You know what they say; you don't miss it until it's gone.]
