Out of curiosity... is there anyone here who, at some point, couldn't return to their own world? Or can't now? [He scrubs at his beard thoughtfully.] By accident or by design, it doesn't matter. And if you can now, how did you manage it?

[He knows he's not exactly being subtle here. But he's at his wit's end. He's having trouble even crunching the numbers to find the coordinates for his world and time, let alone finding a way to build a portal array back there. As much as he hates to admit it... he needs help.]

Understandable. I hadn't imagined this place was in the habit of keeping people here against their will. Is this sort of world-hopping common where you're from? I don't think just anyone could figure their world's slowed down like that.

Well... It's more common than it used to be, but figuring out the rates of relative syncronicity between the two wasn't that difficult.

Back home, I was a physicist specializing in translocation and state entanglement. It was kind of what they paid me for.
