Video / action
[Not much preamble to the video.]
Happy New Year.
I got a piece of paper I need studied - I wanna know where it came from, who's touched it and pretty much anything else about it that might be unusual including whether it's been handled by a ghost or some other undead type person. Handwriting expert could be useful too because I wanna see if it matches the writing of someone who was on campus. Methods scientific or occult or a little column A and a little column B - Don't care. Just need results. I'm willing to pay.
ACTION! Choose your own adventure.
Scenario A: Knuckles is in the Gym in the afternoons beating the snot out of the training bag, or in the weight room, lifting the custom weights Max made for him in ridiculously high volume. He's less his normal cheerful self and it's pretty clear he's working through some frustrations but don't let that stop you saying Hi! He's more than happy of the company, honest! And if you're up for a spar, he would be more than happy to oblige you there, too.
Scenario B: Inbetween or after classes, you can find him in the halls or finishing up whatever work he didn't get done during whichever class you happen to share with him. He may also be walking inbetween buildings or across the quad or to the gym or anywhere else you may have reason to run into him.
Scenario C: In the city, at night. You're less than likely to spot him unless you're on the rooftops of FDC or doing something you shouldn't be doing and he happens to find you. He's been patrolling late evening through to very early morning, especially in the area near where they found Charlise's body, and wherever else recent violence has been reported on the six oclock news. Feel free to either be also inspecting and looking for clues, Oh Fellow Warriors of Justice. Or just be someone who happens to cross his path.

Or perhaps it was too luxurious an item.]
I'm rather impressed that something so small can do so much. What an intriguing piece of technology. It's something like a pokenav, I suppose.
[She smiled.] Back home and I think the other regions have something like it, the trainers use their pokenavs as a means of map utilities and other things. I gave Professor Wright one for Christmas and had it customised for FDC.
But of course, since I'm not a trainer, I don't know how to use it, really.

[He smiled and slipped his phone back into his pocket.]
The store is just right there at the end of the block, so, we can get you yours. Did you have any features you were really interested in having?
no subject
[She lifted her eyebrows with interest.]
Do you think something like that works? I mean, is it simple enough? Or is that too complicated?
no subject
[He pushed the door to the store open for her.]
We'll make sure to get you the earbuds too, in that case.
no subject
[She tipped her head.] Don't those go into ears...? [Because it occurred to her that he didn't actually know her humanisation.]
no subject
[Her hair was so long and always worn down. He'd always just sort of assumed she had some there, maybe connected to her feathery parts. His own ears were small and hidden by his dreadlocks in a similar way. ]
no subject
Ta-da. Fascinating, right?
no subject
[He wanted to ask where she heard things, if not with ears. But decided against that. He didn't want to seem too nosy.]
But there are still phones that can play music either way. Let's go talk to one of the clerks and see what we can getcha.
no subject
Maybe she'd be able to explain it like that.]
That sounds like a good plan. I didn't really intend on actually playing music when other people were around. I'd hate to interrupt them and stuff. So something for just me would be perfect.
no subject
[Knuckles walked up to the counter and waved to get the attention of a clerk.]
Hey! I gotta get some help here. My friend is looking to get her first phone and she wants something relatively simple, but itt'd be good if it could take pectures, video and play music.
[The clerk pondered it for a moment before reaching under the counter and pulling out two brochures. Each one pertained to a particular company's phones. He then went and circled the ones with the features requested and pointed out that there were display models set up for viewing of at least some of those he'd circled.]
Cheers!
[Knuckles pointed Voile over to the little displays set up.]
Here you go. This way, you can see the size and the kind of keypad and whether it's available in a color you like and stuff.
no subject
At the display models, she took her time to examine the different features and options available to her. She was careful as she pressed keys and trying to acquaint herself with the different options and settings.]
These are neat. [A little distracted, she paused for a few moments before she looked over to him.] They're cute, too. I didn't know it was possible for them to be a bit endearing.

[But didn't she want that? And what about Jolt? She knew he had a cell phone. After all, he'd given her his number some time before. She wondered if she still had that around...]
no subject
[He knew she could feel his worry at the thought of her not having some way to get in touch if she was in trouble. As much as he tried to mask it on his face with a pleasant smile as he poked and prodded another display model.]
no subject
[Silly Voile, wanting to be human, getting the opportunity to be more like one, and hesitating over the very idea. Perhaps she just didn't know what she really wanted.
After a moment of watching him, she moved a little closer and inclined her head to plant a kiss on the top of his head.]
You're worrying. This is why we're here. So stop fretting, sweetheart.
no subject
[His face was pretty red - he hadn't been anticipating that she was going to do something like that OR make mention of the fact that he was fretting. Still, he didn't lose his stride. Much.]
Here, what do ya think of this one? It's pretty compact so it won't take up much pocket space and it has all the features you wanted.
no subject
[Her attention turned onto the model he was showing her. With furrowed eyebrows, she leaned over to get a better look.] I think the smaller they are, the cuter they get. My hands are small, after all. It wouldn't do very good for me to have something too large and gaudy. [She wiggled her fingers indicatively.] Do you think it suits me? I want to see if they have it in green - like my hair.
no subject
[He didn't have to read a villain their rights before dispensing two-fisted justice, after all.]
Let's see, there's a chart showing color choices here....
[He ran his finger down it.]
No. Mostly silvers, blacks and greys. But! Like I said, there's all different kinds of cases you can buy for your phone to protect it and make it more personal. I'd be real surprised if there wasn't a green one.
no subject
[She followed his finger as he pointed out colours to her and mentioned cases once more. At first Voile offered a slow nod, and then it became a little quicker as she spoke up again.]
Cases it is, then. I'll find a case that's similar to my hair in colour. But... I think this is the phone that I would like.
no subject
[He took the little card from the display and took it to the counter.]
My buddy here is gonna get this phone. Uh... which base color did you want, Voile? Black or grey or silver...? I know you're gonna get a case anyhow but you still gotta pick one.
no subject
[She'd answered it almost so quickly that it was a little surprising even for her to be so completely decisive. She'd not even needed to give it much thought.
She beamed at the guy behind the counter as he started to gather the necessary information. Cell phone and all that came with the responsibility.]
I mean. Silver, please. [Because polite etiquette was always the good way to go.]
no subject
Silver works! Alright, so here's all the stuff. Now we just need to sign you up with the provider and all that other fun stuff - these phones have to be hooked into a service to work, and you get billed monthly. Bein' as you only have a simpler phone and aren't going to be doing much beyond the basics, it really isn't going to cost much of anything.
no subject
[She scratched at her cheek, remembering idly that Jolt had a cell phone too. She wondered how he paid for it.]
no subject
no subject
[She actually thought Knuckles was pretty brilliant. Whoever told him he was a dummy was sorely mistaken.]
That all makes sense. I guess it's not as complicated as it seems; it only sounds like it. It's like being a foreigner in a country not your own. Where there's a language and a culture barrier. Except... it's technology, I guess. Let us do what must be done!
