[Video feed turns on, and a face that has been somewhat absent from the school this past month greets the screen. He is astoundingly disheveled, covered in a mossy beard, long, wild hair the usual facial piercings. For some reason he's also got monk's robes on? You can probably imagine he smells pretty strong right now too. Because he does. He smells overwhelmingly of flowers.

Vinnie's still a little out of breath and maybe a bit red in the face for some reason, but he's home. And looking a good deal happier than he did when he left in December.]

Al'right, I'm pretty sure I was gone at least 5 months, so... [He glanced at the calender on the computer.] Is this right? It's still Feburary here? Shit, no wonder nothing's blooming yet.

Uh, I dunno if you got all my letters then. Well. [Pause.] S'that mean there's another one of me runnin' around in Johto right now...?

[Time travel, you were really weird. But he wasn't going to think too hard on that right now. Vinnie shrugged and smiled.] I guess I'm back. Did I miss anything important? Has everyone been okay? Red? Where is everyone? I really miss the shit out've you guys.

Yeah, I was thinkin've doing that. 'Sides, some sun might make him feel a bit less moody. I hope.

[Look, not everyone was born with silky smooth sparkle pretty boy hair, okay. Sometimes people just look like hobos.]

Is it even possible for him not to be moody?

[There is nothing wrong with looking like a hobo. He shrugs.]

Just used to you with shorter hair I guess.

That's like askin' you if Char's ever not a dickwad.

I've gotten pretty used t'this, actually. Doesn't really make much've a difference when I turn Venusaur anyway.

[He nods and smiles some.]

Makes sense. Where did you end up going then? You said something about five months...?

Where's he gone, anyway? I think the room beside me's only got one guy in it now. ~~Plus I don't smell burning assholes~~

I ended up in Johto, somehow. I mean, I've been there before, but not off-map. I stayed with some monks for a bit, then went back to Mt. Silver.

[There was a minute frown.]

He's doing whatever it is he does. Maybe he's gallavanting around with Blast.

[His tone tried to indicate that he didn't want to talk about it, but it sounded weird in not his voice.]

Ooohh. Monks... The Bellsprout guys?

I doubt Mt. Silver was any less cold than ever, huh.

[Ah. Ahh... Okay, Vinnie could pick up that hint at least. He'd be a bit of a hypocrite to chide Char about it now, though. So let's just not talk about that, yeah...]

Yeah, them! They were really chill. Let me hang out with them for a long time while I recovered.

I dunno why, but the cold on Mt. Silver... it's kinda refreshing. I guess it's always been. Helps clear the head of distractions an' shit.

[Good. Plan. The Marie that is Bulba seems to get a bit more comfortable with that topic left untouched.]

That's good! On both accounts. I can get what you mean about it being refreshing though. Sort of... Okay maybe not quite as much. But I'm glad it worked for you.

[Pause.]

At least I hope it did. [There was a note of concern here that Bulba wasn't sure if he should actually give proper voice to. I was worried.]

It makes no sense, but Mt. Silver's just special t'me. It's where I evolved, after all.

I think it worked. Still kind've an in-progress thing, but I needed it.

[In return, Vinnie gave his best unspoken please stop worrying, to reassure him.]

[Worrying was unfortunately a staple of Bulba's existence. But he did smile again.]

In-progress is still good progress. ... Uh... If there's anything I could actually do... [Marieba shrugged a little.] Let me know.

I think my main problem was really not knowin' how to accept myself... and it wasn't a thing I figured anyone else could help me with. But I was seein' things the wrong way.

[He paused.]

But maybe all that should wait 'til this body swapping nonsense is fixed.

[He nodded quietly. He did enough of his own cooping up to understand where Vinnie was coming from to a point.

Then he glanced down at his freckly hands and sighed.]

Yeahhh, that's probably a good idea. I hope its over with soon.

Can't last much longer than a week though, right? Unless swapping is different...?

[It didn't seem like anyone else had switched bodies around the place. So it if wasn't a school-wide phenomenon, would it still wear off?]

[He gave a useless shrug.]

I think it's independent from everything else that happens around here. It could be more or it could be less. I would be more than okay with it being less.

Damn.

[There wasn't much more he could say about this weird situation than that.]

So... [Pause.] What's it like?

Miserable. [Maybe that was an overstatement. But maybe not.]

It's quiet and lonely and he drools too much. I hate being hungry. [This list had the potential to go on for a long time.]

.... Swimming is more fun though. That makes up for some things.

Hrm... [There wasn't much Vinnie could do about that horrid feeling of isolation, but at least he could offer some companionship.]

I'll probably be 'round the pool on mornings. Max's getting me to swim laps again, so if you wanted some company.

Mm. I'd like that.

[He paused, wondering if it was all right to say something now.]

... Your guys in the greenhouse are doing well. They missed you.

[And he did too.]

[Because he totally knew you did. Vinnie smiled warmly. You always had to leave it to the bold natured one to say it, didn't you.]

I really missed everyone. I missed you, too.

No problem.

[For the time being, yes. Admitting it himself could have led to the possibility of admitting just how much. Even if he had become a teensy bit flustered, Bulba managed a genuinely happy smile in return.]
