I should like to say that I, personally, am quite relieved to have not fallen in love with a cow this year. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with a tender steak dinner. Simply that a line ought to be drawn between loving animals and... well.

[Soryk pauses.]

On a related subject, after a good deal of thought, I have decided it is far past the time in which I should like some information on the creatures we refer to as 'Pokémon.' Their properties, naturally, and other such traits.

[Someone's poisoning extravaganza didn't go quite the way he planned.] For instance, what allows a Pokémon to die and yet, miraculously return from the dead? Eating habits. Life cycles. And so on.

I always thought they were merely animals with a higher intelligence than that of a house pet, yet it seems there is something more to them. If you are a Pokémon, share with me some about yourself. If you have a Pokémon, tell me about your companion. I would very much appreciate it.

An amazing partner...

[Soryk's mind is already turning. To nab a Pokémon for himself. But whatever would he do with it? In his head, a Pokémon doesn't seem too different from a child and... Well. The thought of children has pretty much always stopped Soryk dead in his tracks. Would he make a good father? His mother seemed to think so, but his thoughts regarding his own father make him think otherwise.

If he couldn't take care of a child, what makes him think he could take care of a Pokémon?]

...I suppose I will need to keep it in consideration. It is certainly not implausible. You have been most helpful, miss. [In spite of his unintentional insults and everything.]

You are very welcome... [Then she realizes.] Ah. I'm sorry I don't know your name. You are a teacher here, correct? ['Cause he didn't look like a student or carry himself like one.]

I am. [He nods.] Most know me as Instructor Val'kaeon, or 'Val.' I am the instructor of the poisons class.

[He's a so-so instructor. Mostly because he doesn't seem like an instructor in the slightest.]

[Poisons... like learning how to make poisons? Isn't that a little too dangerous to teach students? Though, she supposed she'd like to learn the make up of it so she could learn to avoid it, its poisonous ingredients, and how to cure it.]

[She didn't ask, but if she had, he would have confirmed everything she'd thought. The poisons class wasn't about making poisons. It was about learning their properties.]

I will very much do precisely that. I have plenty I wish to know and you seem to be rather open about speaking with me. I like that.

That... was very frank. Chiyo normally didn't receive that sort of remark and it flustered her a little - even had her blushing lightly.]

Um... It's. It's no problem at all. [Just try not to make anymore comments implying negative things about animals and everything will be just fine.] It's nice to share things when you can.

[He does like a flustered woman. Sort of. Part of him doesn't particularly care either which way. But there's a sense of empowerment somewhere in him still.

He motions absentmindedly, as if to direct her elsewhere.] It certainly would be nice if people did that more. But then, I suppose the same ought to be said of me. [His smile is slight, mayhap only half of his mouth, but present all the same.] Perhaps we can make an agreement on trading information. I happen to be a bit skilled in that.

Sure. Of course. I wouldn't mind that at all. [She isn't sure of what she'd ask Val to share with her. Maybe about poisons? His world? She'd figure it out later. Either way, she is fine with this agreement.]

Perfect. [He practically purrs that out. In fact, if words were in a physical form, his would likely be liquid judging by how he speaks. So confident. So direct. So... vain.]

[Please.... your words. Chiyo is not good with handling this manner of speech. It clearly shows by how her cheeks redden a little. Maybe she should have held back before entering any agreements....]
