[Has she been waiting to say this? She's probably been waiting to say this, eyes glued to a computer screen, and more specifically the clock. Has she even slept? No, she probably hasn't slept.
In fact, she looks a little tired, sounds a little tired, but sports a grin like no other. And out comes a laugh that can only be chalked up to a lack of sleep. Maybe. Sort of.This is secretly how Noelle laughs.]

[Anything, really. She doesn't need to say it, though.]
Anything you feel like doing. I'm sure I'll like it no matter what it is. I don't need anything super special.
no subject
OK! I'll make it a surprise, then! I think you deserve something super special, even if you don't need it! I'll make sure you have a great night, OK?
no subject
[A half smile and she continues, seemingly not arguing with his feelings, no matter how wrong they may be.]
If you're so interested in it, then I'll just go along with it.
no subject
What time should I come and meet you? Maybe around four? Five in the evening?
no subject
[Ordinarily such a realisation would be upsetting, but she may be too tired or weary to truly care.]
no subject
[Hey, for all he knew, one of Voile's friends might have set up a surprise party for her. He wasn't about to suggest that, though, because it would sort of indirectly spoil the surprise if Voile was thinking about Surprise parties for the rest of the day.]
Anyway, I'm going to go and get some sleep and I'll see you at your dorm around four in the afternoon?
[He's yawning by now. This is really well past his bed time.]
no subject
[And she knew better than to disagree with him. Once she had set up a potluck for Bulba. Who was to say that someone, one day, wouldn't do the same for her? It wasn't like she'd been the only altruistic person in the academy, after all.]
Four in the afternoon would be perfect. Go to bed, and get some rest. And I'll do the same.
[Begrudgingly. Despite how difficult it would likely be to get any rest at all.]
[Video -> Action!]
[Despite his species, even he found it hard to drift off right away. He was looking forward to taking Voile out and making a little fuss of her. Even though he knew her well enough to know that a fuss wasn't something she craved. He figured just a little fuss was acceptable. Juuuuuust a little fuss. A fusslet.
He knocked on the door at four sharp, dressed quite nicely in a button down shirt and clean, pressed slacks. Still wearing sneakers. But they were more comfy and they might go for a walk later.]
[Action!]
He looked nice. It was the first thing she'd noticed. And she didn't really understand why. Not that there was anything wrong with it. Just that she didn't get it. Whereas, she looked as nice as she normally did. Or at least she imagined he'd think so. Dressed for fall in earthy tones, though fall would officially strike for over a month later.]
Ohhh... Dressed to impress, aren't you...
no subject
[He had one hand behind his back. He brought it around to his front and held it out to her. It contained a small box - wrapped in green, metallic paper and with a gold ribbon encircling it and tied in a slightly clumsy bow.]
This is the present I mentioned. Um, you could open it now or you could wait till later... or... just whenever you want to!
no subject
Somewhere. In a mess of dark, dark things.]
Oh... Thank you. Let me open it now, or else the anticipation of waiting until later just might kill me.
[And to most that would have been a jest, but something about the recent days and weeks made that almost seem more realistic. So she took the small box he offered and moved to sit on the edge of her bed, consequently allowing him to in turn make himself more comfortable. And just as she had been so many times in the past, she was meticulous about opening and unwrapping.]
no subject
Once the paper was dispensed with, there was a small, velvet box. Green again, but a much darker green this time. The box housed a pair of silver hair barrettes, ornate and with a turquoise mounted in each.]
Happy Birthday, Voile. I really hope you like them.
[His voice was a little softer than usual. There was no rambunctiousness there, joviality being replaced by sincerity. He'd spent quite some time finding something that he was sure she'd enjoy. There had been more expensive pieces - the best part about having a job was actually being able to consider expensive gifts - but they had lacked the character he'd seen in these ones.]
no subject
But still. The thought was nice. That Sonny still thought her so frequently and so much was nice. It was hard to turn down that kind of enjoyment, too.]
I think they're beautiful. [Because they were. She took the green velvet box with her and stopped at her dresser with its endearing vanity mirror. Lifting her hands to smooth out her hair, which was hardly necessary, she followed it up by putting a barrette in one side, and one in the other.] They suit me. But you must have known that when you got them. Thank you, Sonny.
no subject
[He stood up to see her image in the mirror a little better and felt that familiar flutter in his chest. He loved it when she smiled.]
no subject
Then with as tall a stature as she could manage, she turned back to him and lifted her eyebrows.]
I'm not that difficult to impress, really. That you thought of me means more than anything. I would have been happy with nothing, and that's just how I am.
no subject
[He scratched at his chin - he'd actually shaved to make himself that much more presentable. The downside of this was it was always a little itchy, after.]
....so. Um. Anyway! Dinner and a movie! I got us a table somewhere nice. But I didn't pick a movie because I thought probably you should pick. Having to sit through a movie you don't like really isn't a very good birthday present!
no subject
She was relieved when he continued, however.]
Mm... A dinner and a show... Well, what kinds of shows do we have to choose from? I think something... Action-packed might be good. [If only so she wouldn't fall asleep at an inopportune time. It'd be so embarrassing to have that happen when he was trying to be so good to her.]
no subject
Let's figure it out while we walk? The reservations I put in are for aboooout... an hour from now. That's plenty of time, but we should get moving.
[He wouldn't want to miss out on the table, after all. There would be other places they could go, but not as nice. He didn't want to take her to Pizza Hut for her Birthday. Despite the fact that he would LOVE to go to Pizza Hut for his own Birthday.]
Action packed sounds fun! There's probably something like that playing! Something with action and comedy in it would be good. I like to laugh.
no subject
She nodded to him and made a bee line for her door, which she waited for him at. In earlier years, she might have beckoned him to follow after, but he was no child and she had no reason to act as a mother toward him. So she just waved him along with some interest and perhaps some pleasant anxiety.]
Sounds like a plan then. You could always use some laughter. And I'd be lying if I said I couldn't.
no subject
Laughing is good exercise. I read somewhere that laughing for ten minutes a day is just as good as jogging. Or something like that. It can make you live longer! I laugh a lot, so, probably I'll get to be a hundred.
no subject
I think laughing for ten minutes straight would drive me crazy. Literally. Eventually I'd forget why I was laughing and I think someone who's laughing just to laugh has some serious issues they need to work out. There's a difference between humour and insanity.
no subject
He did chuckle a little at her reply, though.]
Haha! What? No! I don't think they mean for ten minutes straight and just TO laugh! Like it was doing a bunch of push-ups or something! But like, ten seconds here, a minute there, and so on, then add it up at the end of the day. So, if you surround yourself with fun people and do fun things, it should be easy.
[Though, if he was being honest, if he found something REALLY funny? He could probably get ten minutes worth of chuckles out of it throughout the day.
He walked towards the gate and the bus stop beyond.]
Oh! Max said he's going to teach me to drive this year. Maybe by the time your next Birthday comes around, we won't have to take the bus. Heh.
no subject
[Although the concept of someone laughing, genuinely laughing, for ten minutes still stuck with her and was an image she couldn't ignore so easily. But she supposed at the end of things, she didn't want to ignore it anyway.
As Sonny continued, her eyebrows lifted with some consideration. Sonny... driving... Was the academy ever ready for such a thing?]
Do you even go anywhere enough that you would need to drive? I figure that the only place I ever go is into the town and the academy grounds. I can't imagine driving would be completely useful here.
no subject
[Mario Kart 9 featuring Snorlax.]
And of course, if any of my friends needed to go places quickly, I could help them. Or if you wanted to get to town quickly, I could give you a ride.

MOSCATO IS THE BEST CHOICE. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME BEING AT THE BOTTOM OF A BOTTLE OF IT.
I love Moscato so, so much. X)c
ME TOO. But then I like most wines.
I've only met a few I didn't like!
I think that's how wine feels about me. I am an enemy to all wines.
No, I'm sure Wine loves to be drunk! It's like you're sending it home!
Home to my belly.
Exactly! Home sweet stomach.
Om nom nom. I'm drinking red moscato tonight, thanks to you.
I am happy to have been a part of a positive choice for you!
You are part of many positive choices for me. :>
