Another spate of transformations. How strange is it that such things have become mundane.

No matter. Those who have found themselves changed, report to me for study. I wish to isolate on a molecular level how these changes are possible. For that purpose I will be using the laboratory. Alert me as to when you are able to meet there. If you are unable to for any reason, I will come to you; however I do not accept embarassment or things akin to it as legitimate reasons.

[And he's off! Just as promised, he gets there in under ten minutes, announcing his arrival with a firm knock on the laboratory door before just letting himself right in. For now he looks mostly human, but it's clear by the patches of scales on his face and the claws on his uncannily long fingers that he's definitely been affected.]

[Cyrus takes a bit longer, but only a few minutes.]

Now then, I will begin by taking a skin sample. It ought to be relatively painless. I need take only a sample of dead cells from your unaffected areas, and a scale from your affected areas. The face should do nicely.

[Cyrus picks up a pair of tweezers, turning them ever so slightly as to make them gleam in the overhead light. Was that intentional...?]

[As far as he knows, Cyrus' praise is genuine, and he looks pretty damn proud of himself for it. He doesn't take much notice of the ominous glinting.]

[He fearlessly turns his head to the left, exposing the cluster of scales just below his cheekbone. It's not like this is going to hurt or anything, right?]

[Wrong! Grabbing a scale with tweezers starts off as uncomfortable already, and then YANK out it comes! The movement comes off a bit too practiced...]

[The pain is met with an inhuman hiss and a flash of teeth.]

[Smoothly, Cyrus drops the scale onto a prepared slide and picks up a sterile swab, which he rips open and rubs against an untransformed area on the boy's face.]
