[Not much preamble to the video.]

Happy New Year.

I got a piece of paper I need studied - I wanna know where it came from, who's touched it and pretty much anything else about it that might be unusual including whether it's been handled by a ghost or some other undead type person. Handwriting expert could be useful too because I wanna see if it matches the writing of someone who was on campus. Methods scientific or occult or a little column A and a little column B - Don't care. Just need results. I'm willing to pay.


ACTION! Choose your own adventure.

Scenario A: Knuckles is in the Gym in the afternoons beating the snot out of the training bag, or in the weight room, lifting the custom weights Max made for him in ridiculously high volume. He's less his normal cheerful self and it's pretty clear he's working through some frustrations but don't let that stop you saying Hi! He's more than happy of the company, honest! And if you're up for a spar, he would be more than happy to oblige you there, too.

Scenario B: Inbetween or after classes, you can find him in the halls or finishing up whatever work he didn't get done during whichever class you happen to share with him. He may also be walking inbetween buildings or across the quad or to the gym or anywhere else you may have reason to run into him.

Scenario C: In the city, at night. You're less than likely to spot him unless you're on the rooftops of FDC or doing something you shouldn't be doing and he happens to find you. He's been patrolling late evening through to very early morning, especially in the area near where they found Charlise's body, and wherever else recent violence has been reported on the six oclock news. Feel free to either be also inspecting and looking for clues, Oh Fellow Warriors of Justice. Or just be someone who happens to cross his path.

Yeah - might have to be pretty damn advanced, though. It's a note that got into my place, into my room, attached to another item without me or Goombella waking up, no other traces left and I'm.... well. I'd bet almost anyhing I know who it's from. Just don't know HOW.

[Mac saw the video post but...honestly? He had no idea what to say about it. On the network anyway. He actually made his way to the gym to think about what was said. Punch some bags and what not. Clear his head. What he usually likes to do here other than just train.

And what do you know? There was a Knuckles punching a punching bag too. Might as well then. Talk to him here. He seems just about as cheerful as Mac was, honestly.]

It just says 'Sorry'. And yeah, I'm pretty sure it was her. It was attached to a bottle of Ketchup - her nickname for me was Ketchup-head. Goombella didn't do it and no-one else can get into my apartment by any normal means. I take security pretty seriously t'put it mildly.

[The poor punching bag. If it was physically possible to break it, Knuckles probably would have done so by now. As it was, his fists were a white blur and the noise of impact was very loud at each strike. He did, however, stop when he saw Mac out of the corner of his eye. He placed a hand on the bag to stop it moving and whiped at his brow.]

If you cannot manage to make a network reply decently encrypted, how do you expect to have tight security?

You want to talk computer-geek security, go chat with Tails. I'm talking about physical security - bolts, locks, alarms, chain-link and the biggest damn 'guard dog' you ever laid eyes on. I got stuff in our apartment I gotta keep safe and I don't take chances. Network encryption wouldn't exactly prevent a ghost from sticking a bottle of ketchup and an apology on my night stand.

You would be surprised at what technology could do. At any rate, the alarm is one important factor I was looking for. Typical alarms will detect body heat. Therefore, they cannot detect a ghost. They lack heat.

Hmph. I probably would, yeah. I'll give you that much. But no alarms were tripped - no front door alarm, no window alarms, nothing came in through the heating duct, nothing came in through the skylight or the laundry chute. I got all entry points into our apartnemt wired for pretty much any kinda intrusion. A mouse comes in through the air conditioning? I know about it.

Very well. That is all I need to know. It is not a physical entity unless there was some form of a loophole. I will not have to investigate the note alone, so you know. I may also require detective work of your room.

In the meantime, work with as little as possible in that room. Tampering with anything that could provide evidence will tarnish my chances.
