[audio/action] Remember Remember the Fifth of November...
[DATED TO NOV. 5TH]
[DATED TO NOV. 14TH; audio]
[Seth endured his curse. His karmic retribution, likely. Instead of lasting for a mere week his brush with youth lasted nearly two. Some might have even considered it a blessing in disguised, to relive one's childhood. While his wasn't necessarily bad it was inconvenient. He was unable to control his transformation and had to hide the unagreeable parts of his cat anatomy--years of experience and perfection tossed away at the expense of youth.
One day, he knew he wouldn't have to hide. He'd show everyone that there was no difference between man and beast. But that time was not now--now was a time for him to be hormonal and childish and angry.
And take it out on certain individuals...
Because this terrible thing that happened to him lasted all the way up until his birthday. It technically left him with all of about an hour or so left before the 14th would be over, but he considered it too little too late. Age, so ironically, ruined his glorious day of birth.
Now he's all better and of proper age again than more than happy to slip an audio-only post in before the day ends.]
Guess what! Today is my birthday. I'm not going to lie and say I didn't treat myself out somewhere, but perhaps the greatest gift anyone can appreciate is the gift of life. A good life. One to remember on that special day each and every year. I think I've had a great one so far, and many more to come, I do hope.
Since it's also nearing that time of the year, do you know what I'm thankful for? My supportive friends, my roommates, good food and a good education. Even the adorably tacky decorations that come with it. I do hope you RAs have something more eloquent in the works this year and garland and mistletoe. I have faith in you.
But most of all I'm thankful for good company, because you never know what you have until it's missing.
...Or in some cases they simply move down the hall, but I can't say I don't miss them all the same.
[DATED TO NOV. 22ND]
[If your character happens to be near a TV on this day, maybe while they are or are not stuffing their face with turkey and thinking of things to be thankful for, or waiting in line for that Big Midnight Sale, the local news comes on with an urgent, special report...]

Breaking News: FDCPD has confirmed a body was found near a dumpster in Ferrothorn Park, just off of the Eldin Bridge causeway.
An identification has not been made yet, but the victim is described as young, female, dual-colored violet and white hair with dark skin. Foul play is suspected. Early forensics suggest the victim has been dead for approximately two weeks, and that there were [Mr. Lakitu newscaster consults his papers carefully so not to mispronounce.] elevated levels of phencyclidine, benzodiazepine, and other unidentifiable opioids in her blood at the time of death. There are also signs of a struggle, with cuts and slash type injuries sustained.
An anonymous tip from an eye witness describes a suspect at the scene of the crime as male, approximately six feet tall, dark brown hair and wielding a sword. If you see anything suspicious or have any further information about this murderer, please contact the FDCPD immediately.
Ring ring...
We have a problem.
Whoa, is this...?
Yes.
You sound so...
I know. It's a long story. That's not important.
What's the problem?
I have a liability now.
Thank you for the compliment, but I want to treat her to something special. She's a ghost type. Born to it, I think.
She's gotten in on the humanization thing.
Uh huh. Those are the ones.
That's right. If I can bridge that gap... control that link between human and Pokemon...
As you should. No one crosses me. No one. I'm so very close with the other project.
Maybe later.
I'm not sure, but there's only one way to find out.
Yes.
I've sunk a lot of money into this so far, so either way you'll be hearing from me again very soon.
All for the glory of Team Rocket.

[OPEN ACTION because big post is big]
Should it be relevant to Thief types, Seth has pop deliveries to make sometimes, often in the dead of night and on specific paths that keep away from prying security camera eyes.
Should it be relevant to young women formerly posing as a dude now posing as a little girl types, if he's not actually behaving and going to class, he's probably sunbathing or, again, enjoying hot cocoa somewhere.
Should it be relevant to roomie types, well, sometimes he's in, and sometimes he's out. Don't touch anything while he's gone, good boy. His pet fish seem terribly neglected and hungry, either way.
Should it be relevant to naive deer types, he's still interested in harmless errands. Delivering a package to a mysterious church, no peeking, no questions. He will sing praises for a job well-done, however. Come forth, deer.]

Her clothing was slightly girlish without being overly so and (unlike the pictures) she wasn't wearing her cap. Tugging at her bag, she pretended to have run into Seth first. ]
Um...excuse me mister? I just arrived, and I'm confused where I am...I was walking from home and I showed up here...
[A story she had heard from her fellow classmates before. A good alibi as any.]

You're in a school.

Still, Garrett found himself wandering the halls of the academy quite often. There was more to this place than what it looked like on the surface, he was sure of it. He had been overhearing a lot about goings-on involving drugs, and then there was his own run in with the bizarre curses that plagued everyone a few weeks ago. It had him curious as to how deep this rabbit hole went and if it could get him back home. If there was a secret, though, it was being frustratingly obscure, even for someone who spent their entire life dealing in secrecy. He was just about to give up for the night and leave when he spotted someone else nearby.
Well what do we have here.
He didn't follow immediately. First he had to discern whether this was staff or a student, and whether or not they were avoiding the security on purpose. And of course, whether or not it looked like they were worth pick-pocketing. Then it was just a matter of keeping a safe distance.]

But then there were times when he patrolled, memorizing the layout of the school and keeping vigilant for any secrets the night could potentially hold.
So when he noticed Seth, his roommate - his very diurnal roommate going somewhere in the dead of night, it was enough subject of curiosity for the Mightyena to follow him. He wasn't the stealthiest stalker, despite his colours blending in easily with the darkness, so eventually Seth may have noticed a pair of eyes gleaming gold and red against black.]

Bulba was easily swayed by guilt trips, it was true. But more than that, he tried to be thoughtful and kept an eye on dates. The birthday of a somewhat fussy previous room mate was definitely a date that the Ivysaur had kept an eye on.
And so it was that Bulba also knocked on Seth's door, feeling a little bad that he had not been around very much but holding a small cake on a plate.

....a quick glance over the school network and yes. Caim's name was there. Was History repeating itself? Did two and two REALLY equal four or was it just his imagination? He was going to have to go down to the Police station and ask some more questions to make sure. Kitty had been a friend - Not a good friend but hell, she didn't know HOW to be a good friend. That wasn't her fault, and he knew she'd tried. In her own way.
He owed her some investigation - that was all there was to it.]

Except there was one outstanding difference - one that he was, for once, thankful for.
Prior to his leaving Goro Majima had confiscated his sword and it had not been seen fit for it to returned to Caim's hands, likely under the [correct] assumption that the murders would start up again. And the prince was no fool, so he never would have sacrificed himself for one blade, never mind that its worth was beyond what anyone at the academy could have predicted.
Consequently, as he eyed the screen closely, his dark brown eyebrows furrowed and he found himself shaking his head. Impossible. The whole thing was absolutely impossible. And he could just imagine the number of people who would jump onto him for something he knew he didn't do. But it also meant he'd be ten times easier to interrogate the second time around, considering he had promised Ai to the utmost that he would be 'good.'
And he had been. What a concept.]
tl;dr here we go
As a human being, though? Well, she had to admit that her handwriting was a horrid mess to look at and her organization skills left much room for improvement, but she was doing rather well for finding herself in a new life one day and adjusting accordingly. If she had any real skills, it was certainly adaptability, if her genetics meant anything.
Television helped her do the same, as far as her scattered mind was concerned, but books were easier to transport around. When she was parked at her coffee-table desk and going over her notes (that looked right out of a deranged mind), she couldn't help but let the background noise try and soothe her with its distractions. Books didn't work so well when she was trying to write when all she would want to do is read them.
With her attention divided, she almost missed the sweep of news that extended across the television they had fixed in the truancy office just opposite to where she sat.
Where did they keep getting all this stuff? As she re-wrote some notes that had gone missing (She guessed Resetti might've chucked them, the stupid mole), she paused as the... interesting-looking newscaster began to describe some very familiar features.Evve may be lazy and would forget whatever she didn't care about if she really wanted to, but as an avid reader, descriptions that clung within her imagination was not one of those things. She gaped at the screen until the broadcast was over, only lowering her eyes to let them dart back and forth across her "files". Her thoughts began to shuffle into an orderly fashion and though the papers being pushed around seemed like madness, it had its methods. She pulled one sheet of paper up and stared at the date on it...
Then slowly sank back into her seat on the sofa.
Her hand flopped over beside her, the paper crinkling and slapping into the cushion. Her nose wrinkled, eyebrows furrowed, upper lip curled; the display was a series of emotions all trying to figure out how to configure her face for what she was feeling. Finally, it settled on stoicism, Evve's default and, frankly, favorite choice.
She sat still for quite some time before tipping her head side to side to feel her bangs brush against her forehead. It was when Evve suddenly stopped that she took action, gathering every single paper she had on the coffee table up and walking over to Shadow's desk, where she quickly found a document shredder and stuffed every last sheet through it. Once that was accomplished, she was grabbing a green jacket to pull over her shoulders and was heading straight out the office door.
She had some business to attend to in Final Destination City.
... Ugh, but she was going to have to find an efficient way there. Walking on human feet should be a crime. ]

FDC is however, thankfully, within walking distance of the school. The city itself doesn't seem to be any different than it normally is; there's holiday decorations about, signs for big sales, lights festively strewn on light poles and in select shops. Evve may note some some individuals eyeballing her lecherously as she passes, and they happen to have white sticks sticking out of their mouths. They don't seem to be interested in anything more than looking at her, however, before carrying on with their business. It does create a sort of foreboding air. In the city, bus lines (and taxi) are everywhere and easy to access.
Ferrothorn park is a small quaint park bordered by a causeway, inconspicuous enough to hide a terrible tragedy.
The police guarding the area are staunch and determined to shoo her away, though once they understand Evve is from Smash Academy, they will relent with a little information:
- Positive ID: definitely a (former) student of Smash Academy, definitely Charlise.
- Charlise's body isn't here anymore, it has been taken into the morgue at the FDC police station. No, you do not have permission to
sneak into the morguelook at it, lady. What are you, nuts? Leave that stuff to the medical examiner.- Obvious blood splatter on the outside of the dumpster where her body was found.
- The detectives admit there was a pop found in her mouth. They don't know the color--it was completely dissolved. The inside of her mouth and her lips were tinted greenish blue, however.
- Also a pinhole mark on her arm, suspected drug injection.
- Most interestingly, they'll admit the cuts on her body don't align with her time of death, like it was more of an afterthought to the killer. The cuts do look like they were made with a thick blade, however. They're still working on figuring that one out and hey why are you asking so many questions anyway? Beat it, scram! It's late!
While they don't relent this tidbit, Evve might pick up from their radios that they won't be here after late in the evening, leaving the crime scene unguarded. It's cold, they're tired, and they've got the most of what they think they can get out of crime scene.
Of course, they haven't.]

A lot of emotions
Mac listened to the new caster as he spoke about.
...Dead body.
Young woman dead body.
Mac felt the food come up a little. This wasn't happening again. It can't be.
Not in this town again.
Mac felt the pain go further up his abdominal sections and his head went on near auto pilot.
What happened?? Who did-
...The description.
Mac felt something happen that he didn't think ever EVER happened to him. He had a panic attack. The night that nearly took his life flashed in his mind.
This wasn't...what had...
He was going to figure it out.
Not before puking up Thanksgiving dinner first.

That description, and so soon after Caim rearrived... Make no mistake, that was him. It couldn't have been anyone else but him. This felt like more than just a coincidence, and yet he knew, he knew he couldn't do much without some cold, hard evidence against him. All they had now was a description, and N didn't know about any further qualities. He had to see if this eyewitness gave a sketch or more details.
N instructed his Pokemon to be wary about Caim - very, very wary - before rushing out the door to the police station.
He was going to get to the bottom of this. ]

However, the mention of a murder always caught his attention. Looking up from his computer, Phoenix stared intently at the TV, listening for anymore information.
And then the description came. Of course, Phoenix mind immediately jumped to Caim, almost positive it was him.
However, he stopped himself. It wasn't necessarily Caim. There was a distinct possibility that the murderer was an imposter, or else the witness was lying. Caim had murdered others, yes, but he didn't necessarily commit this one. Phoenix had to find out the truth. First stop, questioning Caim himself.]

- Positive ID on Charlise.
- Charlise's body remains at the morgue at the FDC police station for ongoing forensic investigation. The police have their heart in the right place, but they're slow an unwieldy uncovering clues.
- Estimated time of death: November 7th or 8th
- Obviously on pops, probably green or blue colored.
- They are actually not sure what exactly killed her other than it probably wasn't the blade or cuts--they however, could have hastened her death. They are pretty sure it was a drug overdose.
Not a whole lot new information in the email...
The police do urge caution on any personal investigations, as crime has been on the rise lately in FDC, especially in one of the areas bordering the park.
(There happens to be an abandoned church in this area.)]

He had enough reason to believe that there was a connection. He wasn't sure who the victim might be or whether they were a student at the academy or not, but it almost seemed as though the entire city was under the subtle influence of drugs, if other news stories that popped up recently were any indication. The revelation at the love hotel about shady business involving exploitation with drugs and porn was even more of an indication that something odious was creeping beneath the shadows of FDC. Such troubling thoughts, these were. This incident only reinforced the understanding strapped within his mind.
Perhaps he needed to do something about it rather than twiddle his thumbs and let it affect him so much. Investigate some more. He had a few tools available to him, and if he just kept asking questions, he might find some more clues.]
