[ This was intended to be private to those from Sonic's world ~~save for Eggman, get out~~, but the work-in-progress on technological matters has made this public. Sonic hasn't a clue. ]

Guys, check out what I found down at the lake.

Shadow lofts a brow and shoves himself forward, examining the egg on the screen closely. No, he doesn't know what that is. Even he has never seen an egg quite like this.

Regardless, he leans back, arms residing over his chest, opting for the route of being a smartass. ]

It is an egg.

[ ... Seriously? He can't even admit that he doesn't know?

Well, he isn't wrong, but... yeah, smartass. ]

[ He gives a soft growl, a warning that he is really not in the mood to be messed with, not after what just happened. GLaDOS, Caroline, Aperture...

He shakes his head. ]

You are not nearly as funny as you think.

Now, what type of egg is this? [ He might as well get to the bottom of it, at least. ]

[ Man, did he always have to catch him like this? ]

Chao egg. [ Said plain and simple... ]

[ But he can't resist the big smile that pushes its way out. Nope, Shadow. You will not be a black hole for his good mood today! Or, y'know, ever. ]

There seems to be quite a few down by the lake! Not just eggs, but more Chao, too! I didn't notice any Chao last time we were around it.

[ Ah. That would explain the egg then. ]

It is likely their migratory season. [ He turns his head away, eyes shutting. He remembers seeing a Chao briefly, just once. It had strange yellow eyes and looked more like a doll than a living being... ] They may be around for months at a time.

[ How curious. Maybe he'll check them out a little. It's all for scientific research purposes and curiosity, of course. Nothing involving petting them or relaxing there, no. ]

[ No, of course not. No cuddling them or feeding them or anything adorable and domestic. ]

It's nice, huh? Kinda like a little piece'a home in this place. [ And as if he read his mind... ] You should come down here and check it out. Might do your attitude some good. [ CHEER UP, PUNK. ]

[ Shadow eyeballs him for a moment, feeling the lower lid of his left twitch. Going to see a bunch of cute, playful Chao in a tranquil environment...

No. That is absolutely not a suiting environment for the Ultimate Lifeform. On the same token, he did... like spending time with Sonic, seeing how much he adored every piece of nature around him.

His eyes close once more. ]
