[To put it nicely, Hajime's school spirit is at a minimum. But that's no reason not to show his support for his fellow students, is it? The state of this school hardly falls on any of them. For their sake, he's going to give the most spirited pep talk he can muster on camera!
Wow, look at that, he even hung up a huge banner behind him. Did he make that himse—of course he did, look, don't stare too hard at it, please don't mention the smeared paint and ugly colors, he put his all into it, okay, and it's hanging straight which is all you can really ask for, right?]
Smash Academy! We're well into another semester at this school! I assume you're all beginning to settle in to a new schedule with our new classes. Do your best!
[The best you can, in this school. Truly, he hopes you survive. More importantly, though:]
Beyond academics, however, fall means that the sports seasons are starting anew! Let's all remember to show the Flaming Hobos our greatest support! YOU CAN DO IT, TEAM! GIVE IT ALL YOU'VE GOT HOORAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
As an extra reminder to all students, the cheer squad is always accepting new recruits. Show your passion for your peers, unleash your inner spirit for all the world to see! HRRAAH!
[Hajime's around and about, for general mocking and/or joining.]
1) The aforementioned cheer team has practice every morning before class, should anyone wish to join up or spectate. It involves a lot of screaming and enthusiasm. There's like three people on the team. YEAH!!!
2) When he's not training in the field, he's training in the gym. Hajime's small, but finally getting toned after enough rigorous workouts. All that effort is paying off! But, uh. Wow, that's a lot he's trying to lift, there. Way too much. Like he can't even get it off the ground. What are you doing, kid. Well, have fun with your hernia.
3) And when he's not training in the field or the gym, he's... y'know, around. Staring at people who look sad, hoping they'll ask for help. Pretending he's too polite not to eavesdrop on conversations. Reading a lot. Reading like all the time. Probably reading while walking. Definitely never sleeping. Never ever sleeping.

It only took him a few seconds of catching his breath for him to make up his mind, and follow after her.
"It's always better to have a teacher."

Enter ye stadium, huge and sprawling; somewhere between a baseball stadium and something akin to a Pokemon region, not unlike this only not floating in the air. It could do that too, but for now the floor was a part of the floor and Samus was standing in the middle of it.
"Tell me you've at least visited the stadium before." She was going to give him a crash course in not-fighting, but wondered if she should give him a crash course in anything else like how the podium worked and whatnot.
no subject
"I've only ever watched, before. This is my first time in... the main ring, I suppose."
no subject
"This podium can simulate almost any battle field you can imagine. For example, if you want to utilize platforms in your training..." She pushed a button then scrolled through a selection of tiny little hologram stage previews before selecting one.
The floor of the stadium rumbled and very quickly a life-sized version of that field formed in the stadium. Simulated as it was, if Hajime felt inclined to test it out the rocks and trees would feel as real as any other. Of course, there were also the three floating platforms.
"This one is simple, but other stages come with hazards, like ice, or deep water, or even acid. It's imperative to be able to fight in any condition and to be able to use your environment to your advantage."
no subject
"Honing your reflexes and awareness for your surroundings as well as against opponents... a survival chamber, beyond simply fighting."
Even with some idea of the stadium's field generating abilities, he hadn't before gotten a proper look at the huge variety available. Even at a glance, some of them looked way too bizarre to imagine a real-world equivalent. Still, he'd seen enough to know he couldn't rule any possibility out.
"Considering the wide range of abilities among students, that can certainly help level out the playing field, I imagine."
no subject
Content with plain Battlefield, she stepped back into the middle of the stadium and waited for Hajime to follow. A simulated breeze passed through the tree and grass.
"This stadium also provides a multitude of items, weapons, and tools to use at your disposal in a battle, but before we get there I want to see how well you know your own body." No items, three stock, bodies only. Samus didn't strike a pose, didn't poise herself to obviously defend or attack him but stood still and calm. The only challenge proposed was in blue eyes that locked on him with a cold precision.
"How well can you see without your glasses?"
no subject
With what little he knew of the teacher, he knew better than to leave his guard down, though he didn't really have that much to put up. The widened stance and readied posture fit better to cheering than fighting, but it was what he knew.
"Er... I'm nearsighted. It's not that thick a prescription, but I don't go without."
no subject
"Your glasses are precious to you, then. Don't let me take them from you." This was how she was going to test him. Once she made that declaration she rolled her shoulders back and started her approach with slow and purposeful strides. Samus was being incredibly straightforward in her approach, reaching out once she was close enough to Hajime with a single hand to try and take them right off his face. If he couldn't dodge a quick jab, then there would be a lot of work to do.
no subject
That slow approach made it all the more nerve wracking; by the time she was still a few paces away, he could feel his heart hammering, and he needed to make conscious effort not to back away, at least for this first step.
He jerked back as she reached out; at least, with such a clear warning of intent, he could manage that much. In an effort to put more space between them, and definitely not a nervous stumble, he backed off some more, jaw set.
no subject
That would only carry on for so long however until she, with little warning, dropped her her haunches with her leg out-swept for his.
no subject
With a guttural grunt
and a big red XHajime hit the ground hard on his back. Even though he was good at keeping a grounded stance, with that taken away from him he wasn't much for catching himself. It only took a beat for him to roll back up to his feet, though--staying on the ground against her screamed of danger.
