I kind of got soul-swapped with Bulba. Like, we switched bodies or whatever. I dunno, thought you guys should know. I don't know when it'll wear off. Not soon enough...

[Marie let out a long sigh, recognizing that he'd struck a sore spot. Vinnie's death was something he avoided thinking about as much as possible, and it really hadn't occurred to him to be sensitive about it...]

[He felt a rush of emotion, but tried (successfully, for now) to keep it contained.]

[Vinnie made a mumbly sound that more or less translated to it's okay. The memories were no longer so fresh enough to haunt him the way they did months before.

If he had any reason to feel bad, it was how he closed himself off from his family in fear of those feelings. Perhaps he had begun to drift away earlier, but it was only after his 'death' that he pursued it in earnest.]

[It would have been nice to have the ability to hide in his shell at that moment. Even if Vinnie insisted he was alright, Marie was still uncomfortable. Marie had only learned about the incident recently, and he was still easily upset by it. Just the idea of his brother's death was painful enough, but it was saddled with the reminder that Vinnie had kept it from him for so long.

Although he was on better terms with the Venusaur since his return to the academy, there was still more healing that needed to be done. Marie wondered how long it would take. He took a deep, but quiet breath and turned to face Vinnie. Change of subject. Sort of...]

Really, I just want to be myself again.

[Yeah, Vinnie was perfectly okay with a subject change. Death was something he'd dwelled on for long enough. The Venusaur smiled weakly, blinking open an eye to glance in Marie's direction.]

I definitely prefer you as a Squirtle. It suits you better.

[The smile was comforting, and Marie gave a similarly weak one in return. His emotions were still running high, but his brother's softer expression could calm him down a little.]

Nn. That's what I'm supposed to be. I was never meant to be an Ivysaur. ... I hate being a plant. [Pause. He hated being Bulba- in particular- much more that that, though.] No offense.

Well, you're pretty bad at bein' a plant, might be why you hate it so much. Never seen any Grass Type say no t'getting morning sun.

I mean, I hated swimmin' until I got a bit better at it. And it is pretty useful.

[Vinnie closed his eyes again and mused, thoughtfully;] What's it feel like bein' a Water Type then?

I dunno... It's not anything like being a Grass Type. There's no stupid thing that makes me have to know about what all the water around me is feeling or whatever.

[Marie sighed irritably.]

Everything about it is better. I don't know how to explain it.

[Hmm, that didn't really shed much light on the experience. But, he supposed, it was hard to gauge when you were so used to the body. Vinnie always figured that sensing voices around him was the most normal thing in the world.]

Doesn't everything pretty much need water like that? I mean, I guess I need more than most people. I dunno.
