Hi Green. Hi Blue. I have something that I need to ask you guys. It's about Red. Soooo...

[He'd kind of planned out in his head how he wanted to ask this. But it was still tricky. He still felt like kind of a terrible Pokémon for going behind his Trainer's back like this to begin with and considering Green was one of the two he was seeking help from at this point? He was a little nervous. And he looked it too.]

Red has been acting a little bit different lately. I... don't... know if you've noticed? Well. Probably you have. Most likely.

I need to know and because you guys have known him for way longer than I have? I thought you would be the best people to ask. He has been... quite mean spirited lately. To his team as well as other people. Even... violent? Have you ever seen him be like this before? Is this something completely new or is it just something that I've never seen before now?

I know he's your friend which makes it kind of hard to talk about him behind his back - It really isn't easy for me either! I promise it isn't.- But if there's anything you know that you could tell me that might be helpful I would really appreciate it.

[Blue looked very pensive, and on a closer look honestly a little scared. There had been way too many fights on way too many ends, and to say she was worried was a severe understatement. She was beginning to get a bit overwhelmed by all the little details that were popping up and the looming feeling that she had no idea where to even start trying to figure it all out.]

You're never a bother, Sonny. You're also not wrong. There's definitely something... Something isn't right.

[Her frown tensed as her eyes flicked down.] When we were kids, he could get distant and it was hard to talk to him, but that was just because he wasn't very good with people. He's always had a much easier time opening up around Pokemon... [Blue glanced back up at the screen, looking a bit sadder for it.] You guys actually know him much better than I do.

... But right now I don't know if anyone knows him very well. He's never said these kinds of things before or hit- [there was an unconscious, nervous brush of her palm against her cheek here] - anyone unless he was getting in a fight with Green...

I'm glad to hear I'm not a bother. And that you can talk about what's happening. It's really not easy, is it?

[He could see that she looked anxious and pensive. It was so different to how he usually saw her as to be a little jarring. Obviously, Red's recent behavior wasn't only affecting the team.]

I know he's really good usually with Pokémon. Usually. I just thought maybe... I don't know. If it was something that happened before, maybe you or Green could tell me what to do? Vinnie said it could be a curse or a heart swap, but it's been going on so long and it's getting worse, I think. And I don't even know where to start making things OK again.

[He did notice her hand go to her cheek. His brow lowered a little bit and his mouth turned decidedly downward. But no way. It couldn't be that. No-one would ever want to hit Blue. Not even this meaner Red.] I've never seen him hit anybody before the other day. That's not the Red I know and love. It was... scary.

[Honestly even when he was getting into fights with Green, he still hadn't said the things he had been saying recently.]

No, it's not. I'd be the second one to call him an idiot when he deserves it, but this is way different.

I almost wish I could say it had happened before, just so I could understand what it was. I have no idea... If it were some sort of swap, I suppose at least one other person would be acting strangely as well...? I don't understand why he wouldn't say anything if it was something like that. [Though her only experience with a heart swap was Bulba and Char's exchange at the hotsprings, and that had been a shift that was obvious to Everyone Ever.] Do you know of anyone else that's been acting odd?

[The mention of Red hitting someone else got a slight rise out of Blue, and she stared down the Snorlax very sternly.] ... Who else did he hit? [Keyword: Else.]

I don't know about anyone else that's acting weird. But I don't think it's really heart swapping because this Red knows lots of things that only Red would know. If it was someone else, unless they knew the team really well? We could tell!

[Because even with Red's lost memories, there were still lots of memories and small references that he'd retained. And it seemed for all the world that this newly mean Red had those same things intact.

And wow, Blue. Way to look serious. Sonny had never quite seen that expression on your face before so he really had no option but to comply. Even if his heart broke a little as he did it. It had been hard enough telling Vinnie.]

...Chiyo. The really nice Vaporeon girl.

[Surely that was the one that Blue knew about, though. He was going to hold onto that hope just a little while longer, that it had only been one person, one time.]

...You're right. [She sighed.] I would have gotten that much too.

[Because he spoke in a way that knew all about their childhood, and knew exactly what to say to make her hurt. Blue might have been an emotionally open book, but there were thoughts and worries that only Red and Green would know, and this Red had known them. There was just a part of her that was scared to think that they were one in the same.]

Chiyo too?!

[Oh, that was not the voice of someone who was already in the know. Nor was the expression of someone working through a huge amount of shock and a flash of anger. She was, quite frankly, a bit horrified. Chiyo was one of the last people she would have expected if she really had to try and make a list. She seemed like the kind of Pokemon Red would have related to quite a bit, how in the hell had he...?!]

Aha. So, you think so too. I'm glad it's not just me. Vinnie said it might be a curse, too, so he's going to talk to his room mate who can do Magic and see if he knows anything about curses.

[Oh. Oh, so, she hadn't known about that. That just meant Red had hit someone else, didn't it? That was... disheartening. Very, very disheartening. Because as much as he was currently trying to stay away from Red, that just meant that maybe he was hitting OTHER people, too.]

Yeah. Chiyo. I was there so I sort of... well, once I saw what he did I came to try and make sure it didn't happen again. But... because... Um. I don't know how much good I was really able to do.

[Well. It was RED. How was Sonny supposed to openly defy his own trainer?]

Blue. Who else did he hit? Because you didn't know about Chiyo, did you? I thought you were talking about that when you mentioned hitting.

... You did what you could. That's commendable enough, considering.

[She knew how hard it must have been to do that much. She had already seen how hard it was for some Pokemon to simply be upset at their trainer, let alone actually stand up to them. The whole thing kind of made her sick.

Blue stared down hard at her keyboard, speaking quietly.]

I didn't know. There have been a few fights but... [Her brows knit together as she bit her lip.] ... I was hoping I was the only other one.

...it was really, really hard. I didn't like it.

[Because Sonny had always felt a lot of pride in not only being a good Pokémon for his Trainer, but in having a Trainer who was worth his every confidence. That was falling away rather rapidly as of late, leaving him feeling more than cheated.]

...You were the... Oh no.

[And there it was. That horrible little inkling he'd had and shoved away as vehemently as possible had been proven legitimate. Blue had been a dear friend to Sonny and everyone on their team for so long, Sonny cared for her quite a bit. He wasn't as protective of her as Jock or Blake or any of the rest of her team of course, but he would still happily do anything in his ability to make sure she was safe and sound if it came to that. He had thought Red felt the same. No, he knew the old Red felt the same.]

Blue. I'm so, so sorry.

[Of all the times not to be around, right? He'd been right to lament his recent actions. In trying to give Red space? He'd given Red license to harm people. People he cared about, no less.]

I'll stay with him and I'll make sure he doesn't hurt you again. I'll do whatever I can. This isn't how he normally is so please... Once... Once he's back to normal, I know he'll be really sorry. I know he will. And no-one on the team would ever want to see you hurt by anyone and especially not him so... Just... I hope you know that? OK?

[He really just wanted to apologize over and over, but he knew that wasn't going to do much good. 'Sorry' didn't fix things, actions fixed things. He was more determined now than ever to find out why Red was being this way and to stop it.]

... I know, Sonny.

Don't worry about me, I'll be just fine.

[Blue tried her best to muster up an encouraging little smile. She had already cried her tears. There were still more that she could have shed, certainly. The wound on her heart was still healing, concentrated on the worries and fears she had already been holding. She did not want to shed them, though. They didn't solve the problem. In fact, they seemed to amplify them.

She moved her hands towards the screen as if she could reach through it and touch his face.]

It's not your fault. I... I don't want to believe it's his fault either.

[But at the moment it was getting hard to deny. She sighed and settled her hands down, pondering seriously. Who had he said things to...? Herself, Vinnie, Marie... Chiyo...? Green? All of this was just a mess.]

If he's dragging people into fights and doing all these things to people he cares about, then looking after him is more important... but I don't really want you to put yourself in harm's way either, okay?

I can't help worrying about you a little bit.

[Because telling people not to worry never actually worked. Ever. He put his hands on the screen in imitation of her. It was sort of like a hug. Almost.]

I'll try to be careful. I'll just do my best to stay around him and maybe try to warn people I think he might want to get... mean with? I don't know if I can do that in a way he won't really notice? Hmm. But I'll try. It should be OK! And maybe I can figure out how to make things OK again while I'm doing that.

I know that too. I can't stop you either, but I'll be worrying about you as well. ...I promise I'll be okay though.

[As okay as she could manage, all things considered.]

Warning people might be hard... But based on who I know he's spoken to, it's like he's trying to shove all his friends away... [Blue frowned some more.] If you notice anything really weird, call me, OK? Or if things get to be too much for you. That's not a suggestion, either.

I will. I'll call. I promise.

[Normally he'd tell her he would be fine and it would all be OK and remind her, again, not to worry too much. But this was serious and she was owed, he felt, something more genuine.]

You do the same, OK? I know you have your team to back you up and I know that they're strong and will do their very best to look after you? But I'm here if you need it too.

I really don't know what's happened to him. It's not just Blue he hit, either. He's just... really, really different to how he normally is and none of it is good. At all. So, I understand if you can't let some things slide.

Um. I don't know if you know her or not? Her name is Chiyo and she's a Vaporeon. He was more... pulling her hair and shoving her around? I tried to stop him and I did my best to let her get away but... it was.... Well. You know. It isn't easy. To tell your trainer that you know what they're doing is wrong?

[Almost as hard as telling your trainer's rival about it. Almost. He looks more than a little conflicted at this point, but considering Green was willing to hear him out at all? he felt like he kind of owed it to him to be honest. Even if he felt terrible for doing any of it.]
