Actiony Bits backdated to the 21st.
[So Green and Bulba had come back. Apparently. Where was Bulba though? What a mystery! There's this other guy meandering around campus though who kinda looks like him but he's taller and way more blonde. What a mystery! At other times there's a big Venusaur wandering around that looks kind of like Vinnie but way brighter green and with a big fat yellow flower. The mysteries just never stop emerging.

If you're a member of Green Team, he's looking for you. You too, RA party. He needs to say sorry for bailing on you for a few days. If you're another Venusaur, he sent you a text to meet up sometime that afternoon probably by a fountain or something. If you're anyone else, maybe he's familiar or maybe he's someone new you should greet.]

[BUT EVENTUALLY A VIDEO POST POPPED UP ON THE NETWORK. IT WAS THAT GUY. He looked a wee bit nervous, but he was smiling at the camera for the video that was coming from Bulba's account.]

…Hello! There have been a few new students since I last said anything… My name's Bulba! I'm one of the girls' RAs so if you ever need anything, feel free to stop me if you see me.

Most of you already knew me as an Ivysaur but, uh, I'm a Venusaur now! I'll be getting used to it as much as you are, haha… I'm still the same me, though, so nothing to worry about there.

[Bulba shrugged a bit with another laugh.]

He'd make both magnificent.

Hey, y'won't hear me arguin' that.

[Also a clear and canon truth, you see.]

Bet he's over the moon about your new look, huh?

[His expression softened into a very fond, warm smile.]

Yeah he is. He's way more excited than I am.

Can't say I blame him. There ain't nothing wrong with not wantin' to evolve, but...

[Oh no, sappiness. His one weakness. It was probably one of those things Bulba knew without being said, but Char was already sure that he never again wanted to have that sense of loss that had come when he'd thought of that tiny little Bulbasaur -- a sense of missed opportunities and wasted chances.

So even if it was sappy, and even if saying it while he was being carried across the threshold like some kinda bride did make it seem a bit silly, it still felt like it was important to say it. One hand gripped onto Bulba's shirt for balance, but the other rose up to his head, trying to usher him to lean down a bit so ear scratches could be administered.]

I know he's proud of you, kid. I'm proud of you too.

[It wasn't very hard to convince him to lean down, especially with the prospects of ears scratches. More canon points in that Bulba was a complete sucker for those. Always. Never resist.

A truckload of sap was not expected. Bulba's eyes widened just lightly as he looked over at Char's face, and he blinked. It wasn't really the first time anyone had said they were proud of him, but... But it felt a lot different. There was something inherently special about the way it was being said now, from someone that was built up entirely on the whole notion itself. Maybe that could explain the red creeping across his cheeks or the swell of feeling building up in his chest.

The Venusaur didn't say anything at all, opting to shift his carrying position again and keep leaning so he could make a haphazard attempt to bury his face in the crook of Char's neck the best that he could. It was a really weird kind of hug. It probably looked really bizarre. Bulba obviously didn't care.

He had really wanted to hear it.]

[Yeah, the two of them were probably looking pretty dang absurd right about then, but Char'd had over half a decade to accept the fact that his tough-guy image was fated to take a backseat to little brothers.

He wasn't quite used enough to this level of open affection to keep from looking flustered and red-faced, and if anyone were to ask, he was obviously only holding on tighter because it was a reflex reaction to the shift in position, but there was a shy little smile creeping onto his face and the light on his tail-tip was burning lantern-bright and steady.]

Was it kinda weird droppin' that outta nowhere?

[If these were the kind of moments he got to have now, then Bulba could maybe get used to not being so cuddle sized a bit faster than he had expected.

Chuckling against the dragon's neck, Bulba lifted his head to openly nuzzle his forehead against Char's. He might not have had a soul flame of his own anymore, but the huge dopey smile on his face was probably a good indication of just how sunny and bright his might have been. He'd already been getting somewhat bold and comfortable with doling out his affections as an Ivysaur. Evolution just meant that now he hardly batted an eye as he put his brother into dangerously affectionate scenarios.]

Not as weird as it could have been.

Yeah, I guess so.

[There'd been a long, long period when smiles like those had been scarce -- a period that Char felt he had a very big hand in. Seeing those radiant ear-to-ear smiles Jolly Pokemon were known for again felt a lot like glimpsing the sun after days and days of heavy rain. The sudden onrush of affection might have had him feeling embarrassed, but those smiles just never stopped being worth it.

Still, indirectness was ingrained into his nature; the nuzzle got another laugh out of him and a playful little prod at Bulba's eartip that suggested he was maybe just protesting because he didn't really know what else to do with all this fondness.]

Kid, ease up. I get any redder and I'm gonna end up burstin' into flames, here.

[That particular ear did a series of little flicks under Char's finger and Bulba did a tiny wiggle. That tickled.]

Heheh, okay, okay- but only because I'm not super compatible with spontaneous combustion.

[Bulba eased himself back up as requested. He'd still been walking through that whole sappy exchange, letting his feet do their thing, and it was almost a surprise to realize that they were starting to get pretty close to the more commonly looked at parts of campus. Well. That was that then, he supposed. He slowed to a stop, gently depositing the dragon on his feet.

He felt very light, and incredibly content. The fact that what had just happened had actually happened, and that it could happen meant the world to him.]

Beep beep. Don't forget your valuables.

[Once he was back on the ground, he gave his wings a ruffle or two. It was a pretty halfhearted attempt at the usual huffiness he was supposed to respond to sappiness with, but it was pretty hard to be the surly aloof dragon when his brother was here and fully-evolved and beaming like Christmas had come early this year. There might have been a hint of wiggle in his tail now that it could wag without worries of hitting Bulba.

He still felt the need to look away until his face wasn't quite so red and he stopped all this smiling, though. Baby steps.]

So how much do I owe for the lift?

It was a celebratory freebie.

[This grinning was permanently switched to 'On,' it seemed.]

Besides I probably owe you a whole ton of them by now.

You don't owe me shit, kid. I'm paid in smiles.

[Smiles like that one that refused to leave Bulba's face. How fortunate that Char was the one being paid for the ground taxi ride too, then.]

Then I guess you're gonna end up super rich.

[He had no intentions of stopping. AT LEAST NOT UNTIL SEVERAL HOURS FROM NOW HA HA OOPS.]

[HA HA OOPS. Maybe dragon saliva will also turn out to have Scald-proofing powers.]

Which means I can afford to take a taxi everywhere? I'm startin' to see how this works.

[Signs point to a tragic "not really."]

Dang. Geez. And also dang. I'm gonna get a work out.

[Shit and also damn.]

On the bright side, not too many people out there can boast about bench-pressin' dragons.

I will only use my powers for good.

I can maybe overlook you usin' 'em for less-than-good once or twice. My reputation'll withstand it somehow.

[One wing flicked out, nudging Bulba playfully.]

[Bulba laughed, reaching out to playfully bat at Char's wing with his fingertips.]

I'll keep that in mind when I'm jacking the designated driver's car.

[Another snort of laughter. That wing might have fluttered a bit, too, if a word as delicate as fluttered could ever be applied to Char.]

That so? I think I'm gettin' prouder of you by the second, kid.
