Banjo gets a large drawing of a bear. And also one of an actual banjo.

[A video from a very excited, purple-haired girl also appears on the network on Christmas morning. Perhaps if you are familiar with the girl on the screen, she may look a little different. It's not the glasses- although they are fairly new. Rather... well, let her tell you!]

My BUD! My BUD IS HERE!

[Where there once was a leaf tucked behind Ai's ear, there is now a bright pink bud.]

I am VERY VERY excited! This is VERY EXCITING!

... That's all! I hope that everyone has a happy Christmas!

[Ai- very unpolitely- pushes her way past Caim and finds her way over to the dresser. She moves the chair from Caim's desk over to the dresser so that she can stand on it and see over the edge of it. Calmly, she motions for Caim to stand closer to her.]

Alright, be very careful!

[For him, she takes the onion and places it in the flower pot she'd also provided.]

Take the 1 Pellet, and place it under the Onion! Alright?

[Or perhaps that all sounded like nonsense to the prince.]

[He watches her so nonchalantly show herself in. As if it's her right. Then he closes the door and eventually finds himself at her side. Settling a hand upon her head, he affectionately ruffles her hair, mindful of the bud forming.

Then he looks between the onion and the pellet she offered him and he picks up the latter. Common sense says only one of those things can go under the other, so he logically deduces to put the small round object under the dome-like habitat.]

This way, Ai?

[He looks down to her and raises his eyebrows.]

[Just as soon as Caim's hand is close enough for the Onion's liking, it shoots up and roots itself in the flower pot, revealing its true vibrant yellow color. A dim light shoots out from the bottom of the odd thing, onto the dirt below it. Ai beams at Caim and nods.]

Yes, like that!

[And once the pellet is placed under the Onion, it's absorbed and shoots out two yellow Pikmin seeds, which sprout themselves in the dirt surrounding the Onion.]

You can pluck them now, if you want!

[He moves almost entirely just to get an idea of what exactly happened. Lurching over, he squints at the onion before he looks over to Ai. But her affirmation seems slightly reassuring, though he's still not quite certain what happened.]

...?

[Her announcement - suggestion - catches him by surprise and he motions to the sprouted seeds. She does mean those, right?]

[She nods again, just as excitedly. She doesn't want to pluck Caim's Pikmin for him-- it'd be awfully unfair to give him Pikmin only for them to think of her as leader-- but she reached out and gently touched her finger to the leaf of one of the two yellow Pikmin sprouts.]

Tug very gently on their leaf, and you'll pull a Pikmin from the ground. Or you can grow them longer. The longer they're in the ground, the faster their bud will appear. Or even bloom if you're extra patient...!

I can never wait that long, though. I always want to pluck my Pikmin right away!

[Caim didn't even know that all pikmin could grow buds. He tries to remember if Vianca has one...

And nope. He can't recall. He's pretty sure she doesn't, though. And he doesn't know the differences between Ai and Vianca to determine why does have one and why the other wouldn't. He always thought it was a colour issue.

After eying her for a few moments longer, he finds himself smiling at the thought of her impatience. Then he reaches over for a stem and as gently as he can, he gives a little tug. As if he doesn't wish to accidentally break or tear what he believes to be a delicate sprout.]

[Ai leans over and watches very intently as Caim gently tugs the sprout from it's spot in the dirt. What comes out is a very small ... something. Ai grins at the Pikmin, then at Caim!]

She looks very healthy! You did a good job.

Now you're her leader!

[Oh. It's cute. Wait. ...Cute? Is that really the word for it? Yes. Caim supposes it is. He looks over to Ai, a little surprised at first and then back to the rather endearing yellow... Pikmin. After a moment of contemplation, he patiently holds out his palm, wondering if this yellow companion is someone who will trust him so wholeheartedly.

Since he is her leader.]

Leader...? And her? How do you know it's a female?

I can tell.

[She is one, after all, Caim. If anyone knows, it's likely another Pikmin. She watches as the yellow Pikmin carefully finds her way onto Caim's palm. She's delicate- just plucked- but not as cautious as Ai was when she was a young Pikmin.]

Usually a Pikmin's leader is whoever picked them. Sometimes, though, it is whoever takes care of them. If their leader leaves.

Now pick the other one!

[She's got quite the grasp on his heart, doesn't she? Even now. Caim's a little surprised with himself. Ai has helped him change in many ways, and sometimes that is a painful realisation. But it's mostly good.]

How curious. [Was he going to go anywhere? Caim doubts it. This yellow pikmin sitting in the palm of his hand is stuck with him.

He offers Ai a nod and reaches for the other endearing sprout. With the gentlest of touches, he coaxes it from its rather comfortable habitat.]

Mm.

[Curious, maybe, but it had been Ai's experience. Her leader, Olimar, had left only a year or two after she'd been plucked. In the safe garden Ai grew up in, a leader wasn't entirely necessary, though. Not only until she came to the school did she find herself needing another.

As Caim gently plucked the other one, Ai's smile spreads across her face again.]

A sister! [A pause, to regard both of Caim's new Pikmin.] They're beautiful! Don't you think so?

[He eyes the second one, still wondering how in the world Ai can tell what the gender is. They look the same to him. In fact, even from what he recalls of her being in Pikmin form, there's really no difference aside from the colour. Purple and yellow is quite the jump. The latter is such a cheerful colour, so unlike him.

Perhaps that's why she picked it.

He looks over to her, offering his palm again, so the latter sister might join the former. Perhaps he'll just carry them upon his shoulders. They can serve as 'good' and 'bad' conscious entities. Except he has no idea how to communicate with them.]

I am intrigued by them, yes. [Caim nods.] How did you get your name, Ai?

[Ai grins at the second Pikmin as she finds her way onto Caim's hand, joining her sister.]

My name? Crazy Hand gave me my name when I came to the school! He says my name means purple.

What are you going to name your Pikmin?

[He admires the new members of his family with his silent reservation. Endearing little creatures that he simply doesn't understand. He wonders one day if they'll acquire human forms as well. And if they do, if they should call him 'father.'

Caim. A father. And he supposes to some degree that's precisely what's just occurred. Somewhere very deep inside of him - wherever his humanity is hidden - he feels a degree of warmth.]

I am poor with names. [He easily admits to it.] I had thought to call them 'Prince' and 'Princess,' though I suppose if they are both females... It would not work out.

[Caim thinks as he eyes them upon his hand.]

Yellow, perhaps. Yet there are two. Would you be adverse to assisting me? [He looks to the purple Pikmin girl.]

[It takes her just a moment to catch the meaning of what he said. It's not uncommon for Caim to throw unfamiliar words at Ai. Thankfully Pikmin are quick-thinking and fast learners. With context and a little bit of extra time to mull his sentences over, she nods at him.]

I can help. I think Prince and Princess are very nice names, though!

[Despite all her figuring unfamiliar words out, she doesn't seem able to wrap her head around why either of those names wouldn't work for a female Pikmin.]

Prince Yellow and Princess Yellow! They can have two names like my friend Phoenix Wright the Human!

[He tenses at the very name. Phoenix Wright. The damned former... lawyer, investigator, whatever he was, who had practically hounded him. Berated him. Caim's accepting of him in the present, but there's still a grudge there. He says nothing on it, however, and instead finally gives a nod.]

Prince Yellow and Princess Yellow.

[Simple, yet efficient and acceptable.]

Then I shall do this. [He offers her a bit of a slight smile.] Why, thank you.

I think their names are beautiful!

[Ai can't help grinning even brighter. She leans over and admires the two young Pikmin.]

You're welcome. I hope you take good care of them! [Confidently, she nods and adds;] And I'm sure you will!

[She has so much faith in him. Just that thought alone makes Caim want to live up to her expectations. As usual.]

I imagine... they will become close allies.

[Companions. Friends. He's not comfortable with those words, but they're not too far from the mark either. He nods to her reassuringly.]

Of course. Pikmin always love their brothers and sisters.

[Assuming allies means something like friends...]

[Except he wasn't to be a brother or sister. ...Or was he? He wasn't even sure how to begin with that. So instead, he chose to nod.]

I understand. Then I will attempt to be good to them.
