[There's a parrot hanging off one of her horn, chewing on one of her braids. Aque doesn't seem to mind at all.]

I wonder about the lessons taught here, sometimes. U-um, not that they are bad or wrong! No, what I mean is, where I am from, we would learn from stories. Stories that happened to people, stories about the gods, that kind of thing. Things are very different here. Different is not bad, but...

Ah... To tell the truth, I miss having stories to listen to like that. Usually they come from the elders, but anyone can have something to tell, I think.

So the thing I am trying to say...

[Suddenly she makes a small sound of surprise, as Moema has taken interest in her shiny earrings instead. She grabs the bird and places him out of camera with a Taurahe scolding. RUDE, Moema.]

Uh, right, what I was trying to say is that I want to hear the stories of this world. How was it created, anyway? There are some things so much like home, but at the same time, so many differences. It is a very, um, curious thing! So I want to know more about it. Or about anything. Even a story of just this city, too. Or about the gods and spirits. Probably, I will enjoy hearing anything. Hehe...

I've got some stories about my own ancestors, if you're into that kind of stuff. And stories about other cultures and their ruins. Being a treasure hunter, you pick this stuff up.

Well, my world isn't exactly this one - Funny thing about this city is it kind of exists inbetween worlds. That's why you can come here from almost anyplace. But in MY world, four thousand years ago, my people, the Echidna, ruled over almost everything. Being stronger, faster, and smarter than most other races, our power was pretty much absolute.

Then, out of nowhere, half of our race vanished - the Nocturne tribe was exiled to another dimension entirely. They were technologically advanced, even beyond the stuff available today. They were also the enemies of my own ancestors, the tribe ruled by Pachacamac.

It was a pretty huge tribe, but without the Nocturne around to fight, other species began to fill that niche. Resistance was generally crushed, but soon, otherwise unconnected groups of creatures, including Humans, started to encroach on Echidna territory.

So, they searched the world for more power. A young girl by the name of Tikal -Pachacamac's daughter - found a shrine that housed a gem of massive power. Infinite power. Power enough that posession of it could guarantee you world domination. Absolute and indescribable power. It was the Master Emerald.

Upon approaching the gem, though, she met it's guardian and his charges. The Guardian of the Gem was called Chaos. He was a water spirit, who looked after smaller creatures called Chao - you may have seen some around school. Tiny, childlike winged creatures. Anyway, they all took to Tikal pretty quickly and she loved them. She spent a lot of time playing at the shrine and getting to know the creatures there. She vowed to protect them, knowing the kind of power hungry man he was.

However, once Pachacamac found out about the gem, he decided to wage war on the Chao and their guardian, Chaos. Tikal pleaded and begged him to spare them, but he couldn't be swayed. Eventually, it came down to his army, marching for the temple and her standing there, the only bit of resistance they faced. Pachacamac was so cold, he ordered his men to charge even with her there and they trampled her almost to death. They took the gem by force and killed most of the Chao.

Their Guardian, Chaos, was so sad and enraged he drew massive amounts of power from the gem, becoming Perfect Chaos. A living tsunami - A Godlike entity that could control all water in the vicinity. Chaos killed most of the Echidna that day, sweeping them away and crushing them under walls of water.

Tikal saw all this happening and didn't know what to do. She dragged herself to the Master Emerald and said a prayer. She offered herself up in exchange for peace. The Master Emerald responded to her plea, drawing Chaos into itself, along with Tikal. They both became prisoners inside the Emerald for the next four thousand years.

Unfortunately, it was too late. Half the Echidna were exiled to another dimension and most of the rest died that day, future generations moving from place to place and dwindling in number. Humans rose up to take their place and the world pretty much forgot they existed.

The end. Sort of.

As few as they can be without ceasing to exist altogether - I'm the last one, actually.

Yes n no. I mean, yeah, it would be nice to spend time with people like me. No, because I have a lot of friends, a girlfriend, a pet. I mean, my life has no shortage of people in it so I don't spend much time missing people I never met, y'know?

Obviously, my dear mother created the world, and everything in it. Especially we of the elemental monsters persuasion. She created some before others, such as me and my siblings, to maintain certain elements for those of a... mortal lifespan.

Why listen to something that has no value to its words?

[Gee. I wonder what Soryk is.]

[Oh. Now she's upset. It's not as fun when the women get upset.]

No. You do.

[... And that's a good thing.]
