[She held up three fingers, fairly close together but just far enough apart to count three separate digits.]

Can you see my fingers?

[She squints just a little. She can see her sister, but she's still close enough that things are a little fuzzy.]

Mmhm. Three!

[She holds three fingers up, too.]

[She nods. Good job, Ai.

Now Vianca moved closer again. This time she held up four.]
