[Video feed gives way to a mostly dark room. A lamp in the far corner is dim, implying the bulb is likely on its last 'limbs'. Caim sits at his desk, so like the one he had before. Almost everything is the same, except the layout is a little different and the wall once filled with a mural in the making - later covered in black - is no longer there.

Idly the prince wonders what might have come of his room.

He makes no initial movements, simply sits and stares at his monitor. He seems more like a silhouette in those moments, but eventually his hands move. A bracelet on his left wrist makes a very soft sound as it meets his desk.]

Divine providence. It delights me not.

[It seems as good a greeting as any.]

[OH MY GOD. Look at how deep he looks, all sat in a barely-lit room cloaked in shadow with wild tousled locks. It's like the Twilight books themselves gained human form and decided to have a webcam convo. Consider Lyra sold!]

Uh, what's that mean?

[Well, sold, but having no idea what divine providence is.]

Caim has not forgotten her. They've not talked much, but he's never forgotten how impressionable she was regarding him. He doesn't know how to feel about that. But perhaps she doesn't recognise him. How could she? He's tried to deliberately cloak himself.]

Divine providence. Something akin to fate. Destiny. Something that has been preordained.

[He's so helpful.]

[MAN, that fancy font. Blood red and all curly. He's probably a vampire. Just putting that out there. Wonder why he's doing text when he's got video up, though. Seems a little out of place, but maybe it's part of the old-timey-maybe-a-vampire aesthetic.]

If you have ever believed fate is always kind, then it may be a difficult lesson for you to learn. Occasionally, it is cruel.

[Or in Caim's case, fate's almost always been cruel. He is the hero with the tragic backstory.]

[At least Caim got the coolest starter Pokemon of all time? And a totally dreamy tormented soul aura to him. Chicks dig the heck outta that. Chicks like this moron right here.]

Yeah, bad things happen sometimes, but they happen to push us down the right road. You're here, right? I'd say that's a pretty good thing!

[It's about this time that he seems to gather she has no idea who he is. At all.]

[Because he knows very well she's being watched by others, especially in how she talks to him. Or with him. Eventually she'll know better.]

I don't see why I should! I meant every last one of them. More than any other place I've been, this place is all about potential. And I've been to a few places, trust me!

There may be much potential here. Perhaps.

You just gotta give it a chance, that's all. Harder than it sounds, I know, but this is a place where you can make just about anything in the world happen. Heck, most things just kinda happen all on their own here whether you're trying or not.

I am remotely aware of the possibilities here. This is not my first time here, miss.

It is simply a more delicate circumstance this time around.

Hm. Not all find me to be so personable, and with good reason.

[This, admittedly, makes him smile. Thank whoever it is above - for it's certainly not the gods - that he's mostly in the dark so she can't see.]

[He has no conflict admitting he was not personable to begin with.]

And now's what counts, right? I bet once people get a chance to really see what you're like, you'll find I'm not the only one thinking about how personable you are!

Not all are as open-minded as you are, or prone to forgiveness. Mankind has an ill habit of holding the past against others.

[And he's been guilty of that himself. But his time with Angelus and his time at the academy has certainly made him consider that even he has been mistaken on more than one occasion. It's a very hard lesson to learn and forgiveness is an immense power.]

And some deserve to have the past held against them. I cannot say what the future holds, yet I can say I shall do the best with what I have been given.

I don't think I'm any more forgiving than the average person, honestly. I'd like to be, but I'm not. I just don't see any reason to be hard-hearted toward you.

[Lord knows she's got some grudges in her heart. Some part of her is still kinda bitter toward Red, and Giovanni's definitely not gonna be her best bud anytime soon. But on the other hand, there's Silver -- he was a thief, a jerk, and mean to his Pokemon, but ended up becoming the kind of person she was proud to call her friend, and that's something that's stuck with her a lot.]

I mean, how can I be, when you've got an attitude like that? I'm liking the sound of this stuff a whole lot more than that hating divine province noise.

[Divine province. Yes. That's definitely what it is.]

[He almost smiles when he hears her. Divine province, hm? In a less amusing way, Caim would certainly say wherever Furiae's location - the Castle of the Goddess - was certainly a divine... province. But he doesn't bother to make any mention of that.]

I possess strong sentiments for some ideals. Divine providence is one of them.

That aside, perhaps your nature will polish off onto others who are too much like stone.

[There's hypocrisy in his words. After all, he was much akin to stone for a great deal of time...]

Maybe! But I kinda have the feeling that it'll be you softening people up, not me. Even the hugests grumps can recognize when people have good in them. Or, that's what I think, at least.

I intend to instruct a fencing class here. If you believe it would interest you, perhaps you ought to attend.

Fencing, huh? Like, with swords?

[DUDE... there are maybe a few highly-romanticized unrealistic daydreams about being some kind of Zorro-style ultrahero flittering through her head. Being able to keep up with her Pokemon was an idea that was important to her, and it was turning out that she maybe wasn't the best boxer out there, so... maybe having a weapon would suit her a little better, right?]

Alright, you can count me in. Try anything once, that's what I always say.

[Sorry, Lyra. Caim's not a thing like Zorro. But somehow knowing her, she may think he is anyway.]
