I think it's a little interesting how something can be gone and consequently missing, and yet sometimes it can still be present. I planted these with Professor Cyrus almost two years ago. These flowers, I mean. And I remember the day that I did vividly, because it was one of those times that we were arguing.

We don't really ever forget the people we crossed paths with, I guess, even when we want to. After all, there are things I want to forget too. But I'm beginning to think that I'm going about it the wrong way. Instead of wanting to escape a past, or to pretend people from the past don't exist, I think I should at least be embracing the time I spent with them while they were here.

[It doesn't take a genius to put together that she means both Sonny and Cyrus when she speaks. Except those who didn't know either.]

It's better to be thankful than it is to be held back. Smash Academy, can you tell me what you're thankful for? It doesn't have to be a person. It can be a thing, an ideal, a belief - whatever you want. I'm simply curious.

The truth? And yet isn't the truth sometimes subjective, Professor Wright?

No, the truth isn't subjective when it comes to facts. But sometimes it's hard to find the truth.

But facts can be created, can't they? For instance, if someone wanted to frame someone else, they could make false evidence, which could be mistaken as real evidence. But I imagine that is the purpose of an investigator, correct?

Well, false evidence isn't the truth.

Technically, yes, investigators are supposed to find the truth when others throw falsities in the way. And sometimes it's very hard to decipher the truth from a bunch of misleads, but I'm thankful for when the truth is shown.

False evidence isn't necessarily the truth to someone who knows better. But to someone who doesn't, it is. That was the only point I was trying to make.

[There's a momentary pause.]

I think I understand you, however. I'd appreciate the truth, myself. As often as it can be given, anyway.

[His expression softens slightly] Ah, okay, I see what you were trying to say. To one who doesn't know the truth, anything else can be "truth" to them. That's why you have to be careful.

Ah, if only everyone would tell the truth. Life would be a lot easier, wouldn't it?

Yes. A world without deceit would be a nice one. I think that's unrealistic, however. A shame, but... We should do the best with what we've been given. We can be good role models for others, after all.

Unfortunately, you're right; a world without deceit is impossible. [He smiles sadly.]

Me? [She blinks.] Oh, please...

I think it's mostly common sense to treat others with care and consideration. The world itself can be filled with many cruelties. I can't see why I'd ever want to add onto that by being anything less than nurturing.

And that's why you're a good role model, because more people could stand to learn from that.
