ACKSHUN POST
It was a bright and cheery afternoon; the zephyr blew in light breezes — except at occasional intervals, when it was increased by a gentle gust of wind which swept up the halls (for it is in Smash Academy that our scene lies), rattling along the desktops, and gently agitating the notebooks of the students that struggled against sleepy boredom.
A man hirsute of face and swole of body stood outside a doorway, and pawed at Blue's door with his hand.
"Mama," he said. "Mama, can I come in?"
Dear Reader, this is not the normal series of events, for Our Hero is typically acclaimed a Man of Action, tarrying not at mere doors, but instead bursting through the the strength of one who knows not the churlish bonds of private discretion.

"Of course," she called out to her firey boy as she sat up on her bed. It had been a time for perusing cute animal videos on Mewtube, but real puppies were always far better uses for her time. Especially puppies that were being polite and calling her 'mama' instead of 'mom.'
Something was most certainly up. "Come on in, Jock."

Jock spent his time looking around the room sort a little bit, just, not focusing on Blue. He fidgeted with his hands a little bit, then scratched his chest, and went back to fidgeting.
"Mama," said Jock again, calling her mama instead of mom, "I have a friend who keeps getting in trouble and needs help not getting in trouble anymore, but I don't know how to help him not get in trouble anymore, and I don't know if there's a people trainer, but I think he needs a people trainer if there's a people trainer."
Oh, there we are. It's awkwardness on behalf of another person. That's what Jock is registering.
no subject
It was hard to keep her mouth from thinning too much when Jock had said what he needed to say. Blue couldn't say she knew all of Jock's friends, but amongst the ones that stuck out in her mind, only one of them would have required a 'people trainer,' and he was the absolute worst of the lot in her mind. No good had yet to come from Mondo Oowada, and it wasn't a secret that Blue didn't like him in the slightest. Which was probably why Jock wasn't mentioning him by name.
Well. Listening to the whole issue came first. She scooted over on the bed, patting the comforter beside her for Jock to join her.
"A mentor is what you'd like him to find," she was saying. "There are different kinds of people trainers, just like there are different kinds of Pokemon trainers. Mentors are the kind of people trainers that could help with being a better person."
no subject
"He wants to be better," he said. "He really does. He just doesn't know how to be better. It's, he just, he knows that he hurts people sometimes but he doesn't know how to not hurt them. He probably didn't have a good people mentor when he was little. And he's real sorry that he hurts people. He wants to be good. He loves dogs; people who love dogs have to be good on the inside," he said, firmly believing this to be one of the world's sincerest realities. "They do."
He continued to fidget with his hands. "Do you think you can help me get him a mentor?"
no subject
"There is not a lot that I can do for him," she admitted. Blue reached over to settle her hand over his fidgety ones. "Finding a mentor is something he needs to do on his own, because only he will know who is helping him. Maybe there is a teacher he feels good about, or an older friend that isn't a horrible influence."
"Finding friends that aren't afraid to tell him when he's being awful would help to, if he'd make an effort to actually listen to them."
no subject
"I thought that maybe... you could be a mentor for him, but I guess you can't be one," he mumbled morosely looking down at Blue's thin hand on his larger ones. "You're the best at knowing what to do..."
no subject
Even though it just took a glance to know that she was already falling short of Jock's current expectations.
"Even if I said yes, I'm not sure how much he'd want to listen to me, honestly. I can only do the same things I'd hope his friends would do... You can do it too." Blue gave his hand another pat and turned to look at him.
"It's less about telling him he's completely awful, and more that you need to help keep him from making bad choices. It's like when I tell you not to do something. It's not because I think you're terrible, it's because I want to keep you from doing things that aren't good or getting into bad habits that might hurt you or other people. Does that make sense?"
no subject
"Yeah, it makes sense," said Jock glumly. "I know I make mistakes, too. I'll try to help him not make as many bad choices."
This is a fool's errand.
"And I'll try to help him find a mentor, too. It's just, you know... he lost his best friend so he doesn't think he can have any more friends anymore."
no subject
Hearing that the person she was still assuming was Mondo had lost his friend was even more cause for concern. Blue bit back the urge to ask what it was he had done to make this happen. There were a multitude of other things that could have been the cause for such things, and she knew that well enough firsthand. 'Lost' was such an ominous word.
"... What do you mean he lost him? Did something happen?"

Jock sounds sad. He looks sad and distraught. Thinking about other people being sad makes Jock feel sad, too. HE FEELS WITH THE POWER OF A THOUSAND SUNS.

"It sounds like he really needs to talk to his friend about how he feels. Weird things happen here, and people do things they don't always mean to."
Something they were both quite familiar with. Here she sighed.
"If it would make you feel better, I can try to talk to him anyway."
no subject
"I love you; you're so wonderful," he said. "You're the best and my favorite and so smart and beautiful, I'm so glad you're my mom; you even love, even love bad boys who make mistakes."
He hugged her more tightly than he had before. "My friend is Mondo and I know you don't like him, but you're so wonderful and perfect, I know you can help."
His emotions were fueled by the love of ten-thousand glittering Ho-ohs for Blue and how wonderful she was.
no subject
Blue awkwardly stroked Jock's hair as well as she could from within his vice grip. "I can't make any promises about how helpful I can be but... Bad boys don't have to be bad forever. I guess even Mondo could figure out how to learn from his mistakes. If we're both keeping an eye on him, things should turn out okay."
"Thank you for telling me."
And it could have been left at that, with her gently stroking his hair and easing his tears away. The fact that he had owned up to Mondo's name, however, spurred her on. Secrets usually weren't Blue's thing, and this wasn't really... a secret... She just hadn't known when to bring it up. "There's something I've been needing to talk to you about too, whenever you're ready."
no subject
It must have been something awful.
no subject
"You're not in trouble, as long as you stop doing dangerous things for the vines." Don't do dangerous things for the vine. "Uh. It's something I did, actually."
I think you mean for the Pitfall!s
Probably I do
"Everything is completely fine," Blue attempted to reassure him with a smile. "Don't look so worried, it's nothing fatal or even remotely dangerous. You're probably just not going to like it very much."
Because of the love that burned like the power of a thousand suns.
"I'm just... trying the dating thing out."
no subject
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Jock stiffened and sat upright. "Who?" he asked. Who was worthy to date Blue? Nobody? No person living or dead?
no subject
Blue gave a tiny shrug, as if whomever she was about to name was an obvious answer or wasn't at all a big deal. Surely it wasn't a big deal. Right? Right.
Incorrect.
"It's Green."
no subject
So not good enough for you.
no subject
Blue had always been her friend's biggest fans, and that had never been a secret.
"He's strong in his own ways. I've always admired how strong he was... But Green's a very precious friend to me, and he always has been."
no subject
Jock was grumpy now. He's gone from crying over you in a cancer ward to grumpy in like 60 seconds. Good work.
"I don't like it. I don't like it at all. He's gonna hurt you. I know it. He can't love you as much as I do. I love you more than he could ever love you. You don't need him."
A winning argument, Jock.
no subject
Grumpy was a step up. Grumpy with a set reason for grumpy was better than devastated with no real way to ease the sadness.
"He's as important to me as any one of you. I knew you wouldn't like it, Jock, since you don't seem to like him very much. Not that I can't blame you, he puts his own proud ask on when he's talking to anyone else. He can act like a jerk when he thinks you're a rival. But he's very kind when you know him. Green wouldn't hurt me to hurt me."
Blue pushed herself up so she could kiss Jock's cheek. "Thank you for being concerned for me. I love you."
no subject
"He's a guy. He just wants to... do things. He's a guy. You can't trust him. I know how guys think."
Aaaaaaawkward.
no subject
"Oh I know what most guys want already. But if there's any guy here you can trust, Jock, it's definitely Green. He's not going to do anything that I don't want him to do."

You were going to get overruled, Jock.

"Come on, we're going to run some laps instead." Blue got off the bed, giving him a look that meant he was supposed to follow.

Jock slid off of the bed. "I thought running on the track with you was Blake's thing."
Looks like somebody's being an angsty teenager.
no subject
"It just so happens that running is not an exclusive activity. Right now I'm going to run with you."
They were on their way.

He was Rash, not Stupid.

Blue gave him a sidelong glance and lovingly took his hand to hold. "I'm asking since this is something we can try to help Mondo practice too. I think he might be just as rash as you are, so it could be good to get him to try."
